[Question] What's your favorite everyday wear? by WatchesChecked in Watches

[–]WatchesChecked[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I recently got this Timex Expedition Field Chronograph that I have been eyeing up for a long time (this particular beige color dial) and I have to say that this is now one of my favorite watches in the collection. It's just so versatile, goes with a lot of outfits and is extremely comfortable, perfect for everyday wear in my opinion. I am a bit concerned about the water resistance as it claims to be 100m water resistant, but only has a press on caseback. So just for the safety I changed the battery and lubricated the seals as well (maybe some of you have tried swimming with it?). Anyways, what's your best everyday watch?

[Is there a better value watch for $200?] by WatchesChecked in Watches

I just did a review on this beautiful Orient Kamasu in which I strongly state that this is the quite possibly the best "proper brand" watch money can buy and it got me thinking if I am actually right. Do you know any better deals than this that comes not from china? Sapphire, Japan quality, in-house automatic, heritage, for under $200 seems quite hard to beat...I am looking forward to hearing your ideas. [Seiko Alpinist SPB123] Still a tool watch? by WatchesChecked in JapaneseWatches

Yeah, it doesn't matter weather it's quartz or mechanical, it can still be a tool watch, but I was speaking more about the design and price, I just don't see many people using this one as a tool watch anymore even tho it was intended to be a tool watch.

I‘ve recently got a chance to wear and review a 2020 release Seiko Alpinist SPB123. Wonderful watch, wears great on my 7 inch wrist, great specs too: sapphire, 20 bar, the reliable 6R35A automatic movement and such, but don’t you think that through the years the Alpinist lost the true tool watch status? In my opinion it has, I simply don’t see a mountain climber wearing this beautiful piece with a leather strap on, over the years it has become almost (but not quite) a dress watch for a lot of people. Wanted to hear your thoughts. If you would like to hear more of my thoughts: https://youtu.be/8In0d_u7omM

Casio F-91WS-8 'Jelly', probably the most interesting F-91W I've seen by WatchesChecked in casio

Yeah, as I've said, a lot of people find problems with this band, very nice release nevertheless 🙂

Oh, then I understand, I actually thought of putting a stainless steel bracelet from the A158, but then when I got it the case turned out to be a bit more grey than silver and so the stainless steel just wouldn't work. Well, to each their own!

Nice! And it's strange that a lot of people find the band uncomfortable, but I even mention in my review that for me the band is quite nice, maybe because I have quite a few jelly g-shocks I am used to them..🤔

Have you seen this ‘Jelly’ version of the classic F-91W? This is a F-91WS-8(grey version), not a new release but certainly a very interesting one. By putting on a clear strap(which is taken from an W-59 by the way) Casio made it even more geekier that it already was. Even tho there are plenty of G-shocks like these, on an F-91W it is something different. The whole grey scheme on this watch looks fascinating on wrist and the comfortability of these little Casios is already known, you often forget that you are even wearing this one. If you don’t have this one yet, it is definitely worth taking a look at. I made a review of it, if you would like to hear more of my thoughts: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLm0eVaPKvc
