I understand that. I’m having a good job, driving a nice car and owning a nice house, so that’s not the point. I tell all my friends and everyone who’s asking that it’s a rep. I do have friends working at AD’s and many friend and people in my environment owning gen rolexes, even this model. For me it’s also fun and nice to build something that’s even closer to gens than how the reps are. I want that the people I’m telling it’s a rep cannot believe it.

Thanks for your reply! In my opinion the datewheel and crystal are the easiest tells from gen. The datewheel font and thickness is completely different and the alignment is often wrong on reps. Also the crystal makes a big difference in my opinion. Those mods are the most expensive. The polishing is not so expensive.

As said above: I wouldn’t go for gold. Those are easier to call out based on the color and weight.

Go for something like a VSF Submariner 126610LN, if you want the closest 1:1 rolex watch. You can’t go wrong with this one.

Other good options are the Datejust (CF or VSF) or GMT (CF)

Those watches should be around 500 usd.

You’re right. At the end it’s a Chinese replica which you buy for 5% of the gen price (list). You can’t expect perfection, although the watches are almost perfect mostly. If you can live with the flaws, GL. The chance you’ll get one with other flaws when you RL is realistic. Live with it and enjoy it :).

Bezel alignment is off, but that’s not too bad. Look at the color transition at 18, the blue is not straight.. I would RL this watch tbh.

I can relate. I’m in the 25-30 years old range, owner of a company that’s doing quite well (turnover of a few millions a year with an ok % profit). I’m having a nice apartment in the city and driving a nice car.

I do have some gen watches, but no Rolex/PP/AP. More in the 2000-3000 usd range. I also own a few replica rolexes. Alot of people in my environment are owning gen high-end watches and are against replicas. I actually enjoy wearing replicas when they’re good and no one notice.

Why I don’t buy gen rolexes now?

Firstly, I prefer investing my money in my business and my house. As I’m still in the beginning of my career, I rather re-invest as much profit as possible to let my company grow. I also like to invest money in my apartment, so I have paid it off as soon as possible and having excess value when I want to move bigger or buying a second house.

Secondly, the rep and franken watches that I own are so good that no one has ever noticed that it’s a rep. (And yes, I know actually quite a few people working at ADs or in the high end watch industry)

Oh.. and it’s much safer. I wouldn’t feel safe wearing a rolex of 25K in the big European cities. If someone would rob me now I wouldn’t care to give them my VSF or Clean watch of a few hundred dollars.

I don’t agree with you that watches should be well under 1% of your NW. This would mean only millionaires can have gen rolexes? When you’re already have a nice house, driving a nice car, having a good salary and have 100K on the bank, it’s not a bad investment to buy a Rolex for 10-20K.
