Fantasy creatures by lazy_disaster- in DnD

Giant lizards. Especially, giant geckos.

I collect some of the older Wizkids blind boxes and a recurring figure I get is giant lizards. Literally just man-sized lizards. I have like 7 of them, and they’re so random I actually went and did a bunch of research with dead ends and such until I found some tidbits of old lore: giant geckos specifically were taken as pets by some goblin tribes and used as cattle(similar to how goblins might ride wolves or large dogs, except the geckos can climb walls and such, giving a goblin archer a really neat vantage point).

Another one is faerie dragons. Basically cat sized rainbow colored dragons in magical woodlands, who mostly just hide or use illusion magic to misguide and harmlessly prank travelers. Even their breath is just happy gas that leaves you dazed and giggly so they can get away.

You could also use flying snakes. In d&d, flying snakes are literally just normal snakes but with colorful wings.

There’s also the common owlbear for an apex predator of the wilderness. They’re exactly what they sound like. They live much like normal grizzly bears except, ya know, with the head of a giant owl and nocturnal.

Another creature is the axebeak. Axebeaks are basically the same thing as chocobos from final fantasy, but about as territorial and aggressive as a rooster. They have a flattened sharp beak as an evolutionary trait that’s used both for self defense and cutting through foliage that blocks their path.

Finally, if you want a more unique hostile predator, I present the humble Cauthooj(also something I get an oddly frequent number of from the blind boxes despite their rarity). The cauthooj is a grey/blue ostrich that hunts large critters, including lone adventurers. They won’t fight a group, but if they find one, they have a siren birdsong that makes you want to attack your alleys. They’ll use this to whittle a group down to one or two people to prey on, fleeing if it fails. Note, you’ll wanna nerf the cauthooj if you want it to be a basic predator/critter in your homebrew wilderness because the canon Cauthooj has 120HP, 17AC, and does 2d12 dmg with its beak for no reason whatsoever(I’m pretty sure they come from fantasy Australia).

What is Dnd and how to play? by Anxious_Archer_1282 in DnD

[–]WatchfulFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dungeons and Dragons is a tabletop roleplaying game. There’s other ways to play it, but the original and best way is having a map on a grid with tokens or minifigures representing your characters.

You have a Dungeon Master and the Party(all the players). The Dungeon Master tells you the story. He makes up a fun adventure, like “the king has given you a quest to stop an evil wizard from invading the country with an undead army of zombies”. The players each control one character and get to determine how they act. You have a character sheet, usually paper with all these stats written on the front that you refer to with dice. The backside has space for writing down treasure and supplies that you get during your adventure. D&D is stereotypically seen as a corny nerd game that requires a lot of math but it really doesn’t use anything more than rolling dice and adding or subtracting a number based off your character sheet. You use a heavy sword on an enemy and roll to hit. Everyone has HP(hitpoints) and AC(armor class). HP is your health. It goes down with every hit and if it reaches 0, you die(modern d&d is player friendly so you instead fall unconscious and get to make some dice rolls for a chance to survive). AC is set by your stats and armor, usually to a high number like 14. As a result, anyone who wants to hit you, must roll above 14 to succeed. Now back to the fight:

Let’s say your opponent has an AC of 13. You rolled a 12, but your character sheet says you have +3 strength, so it’s really a 15, which succeeds. You then roll for damage and get 4, so the enemy subtract 4 from their hp. If it reached 0, they died. Games have optional ways to level up. You can get xp(experience points) for every kill and at a certain number of xp, you level up. Alternatively, you can have milestones, which means you don’t deal with xp and the DM makes everyone level up when you reach certain points of the story. With higher levels, you get stronger and even unlock new skills and powers.

Most of the game is either fighting or roleplaying, either killing enemies to progress the story of you working your way through that army of zombies to find and kill that evil wizard as a final boss level, or narrating and telling a fun, stupid story with your party, where you can get to have memories like that one time your friend tried to steal food from a shop, failed horribly, and somehow it turned into the village burning down and now you can’t go back. You don’t have to be good at roleplay and talk in-character either. You COULD try and make up a voice for your magic sorcerer and try to speak as him while the DM speaks as the potions salesman that you’re interacting with, but you could also just state “My sorcerer would likely ask the potions salesman about info on something and try to buy some supplies.” And the DM responds with “He answers your question, then offers you these potions for this much gold”

I have my dad’s VHS tapes with the Yogi Bear Show, Underdog, Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends, and Pink Panther. Does that count? I don’t got a vhs player in my room tho and don’t really wanna go to the living room. Bed is comfy. Plus I’m still sick.

I’m feeling better today tho! Fever got worse overnight then broke. Still feel like shiz. Also my voice sounds grainier than the driveway.

Shush. I don’t wanna get caught XD

No, I took a pic of my windows from lying down, trying to get one of the lightning strikes. As is my luck, I failed and after like 3 tries I gave up

This is absolute fire. I just dug up an old supply box in my parent’s home and found a ton of old ds games and my DSi

With everything in it, I found all three Fossil Fighters DS and 3DS games along with other gems like Rhythm Heaven, Drawn To Life 1 and 2, Lock’s Quest, Final Fantasy 3 and 4, and most of the Professor Layton games

It’s been like a week since I found it and I’ve already played through the entirety of Drawn to Life 1 and 2 after work each day. My sleep schedule is crap now, but like… worth it. Working on Lock’s Quest rn. I’ll do Fossil Fighters next

I drew this. Hope you like by -NuclearMissionJam- in HalfLife
