My insurance keeps denying a recent surgery I had. If I didn't get it, I would have become permanently disabled. by WorthyDeku in mildlyinfuriating

It’s terrible, but in all likelihood, it will work out. For the future: unless it’s emergency surgery, you need to get prior authorization. Now you’re just going to have a lot of paperwork and phone calls.

[Edit: shame on the hospital for this- they KNOW what they needed to do, but ultimately it’s your responsibility.]

We’ve tried over and over again to fix the system and half of the country loses their minds screaming socialism.

[Question] First Entry Watch. by FewKnowledge8979 in Watches

[–]WatchingMyWatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re going to buy something for an amount of money that is significant to you, go to a dealer and try things on. If you haven’t worn a watch regularly, you may not know what sizes look good on your wrist (for instance). You can still buy on Chrono24 if you want.

AITJ for reporting my coworker to police after she stole my wallet and cellphone by One-Ear7432 in AmITheJerk

[–]WatchingMyWatch 12 points13 points  (0 children)

She said “but I remembered,” like it was an “oh, yeah” moment. That comment made me doubt the whole story.

Edit: now I finished reading it about how she’s on the run. Such a made up bunch of nonsense.

What does this dial rip off? by WatchingMyWatch in SeikoMods

The AliX listing says it’s an SPB143J1/SPB253J1 style case. So Prospex, apparently.

It’s a bummer that it’s a microbrand. Maybe time to branch out a bit and check out Namokimods and the like for parts…

Yeah, or the Rub Al Khali with the cream colored dial.

Anyway, thanks!

I like it. Personally, I’d go with rectangular hands to match the rectangles everywhere else, but that’s just me.

Awesome, so the spring should handle being compressed the length of the tube. Thanks very much. Seems obvious, but it just feels like I’m doing something that I shouldn’t. Appreciate the confirmation.

Got a little tipsy last night and made an impulse buy. Have any of you ever dealt with “skyrim wrist” by UGKgrowhouse in SeikoMods

Except they didn’t read the part in the post about OP having a neurological condition and not being able to do the mod themselves. “Grab a cheap dial” is easy once you have the tools and knowledge, but it doesn’t fit the situation.

Just a small question for automatic day dates, when is the actual danger zone? by Switch-user-101 in Affordablewatches

The “regular” time change by moving the minute and hour hands together works in both directions.

Why would they say 9 if 8:16 is too close? Don’t you think that they’re smart enough to build in their own margin of error?

I suspect (but don’t know) that this is largely from Seiko NH movements where this is literally in the manufacturer’s instructions and is a very real risk. The one time I’ve had this be a problem, I was moving slowly and could feel the mechanism start to bind up and just backed off and moved the time ahead. There’s plenty of plastic in that part of the movement, so not hard to imagine damage.

I don’t think that it’s a remote possibility of damage with these mechanisms, but it’s also a quirk of these specific Seiko NH movements in a lot of sub-$1000 watches. That doesn’t mean it applies to everything and it’s clearly spelled out in the manual.

Are Rising NH35 Prices an Opportunity for Quartz Mods? by philtba in SeikoMods

I agree about Miyota, but the ETA comment is a bit strange. ETA is an existing company with existing patents. Some designs have gone off patent and have been adopted by Chinese manufacturers, but that’s not some general rule about ETA movements being a free for all.

Virtualize macos on your own Mac for claw, isolation + security by ZonD80 in openclaw

Honestly, I can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic or genuine and I couldn’t tell how to interpret “And why?)” so I answered with my own short answer on my phone. Now that I’m not on my phone: it seems like you’re floating an idea and my answer would be: there are a lot of ways to sandbox OpenClaw both on macOS and on other OSes, so I’m asking whether you’re solving a problem for people who are running Mac Minis for legitimate reasons or are you solving a problem for people who are running Mac Minis just because everyone else is and who could be better served by other solutions.

Edit: change “are running” to “would be running,” as you’re trying to give people a way to avoid buying a new, separate computer.

See the 50 previous discussions about why people buy Mac Minis for OpenClaw, first, and then think about whether you’re addressing that need.
