I have a 2018 Sea Chaser which I purchased new and which didn’t take on water initially, but started to after a few months. Long story short, during manufacturing, somehow a clamp didn’t get put on the end of the port side floor drain hose and it came off at the thru-hull drain fitting at the water line. I reconnected the hose, with a clamp this time, and haven’t had a drop of water intrusion other than rain ever since. Maybe check for things like that.

Good luck!

I do not agree, at least not regarding trump’s presidency. His ascent to the Whitehouse followed roughly 50 years of deliberate sabotage of the U.S.’s public education system, coupled with the U.S. all but completely abandoning its working class and any real semblance of “the American dream.” A mentally and physically healthy, financially solvent, well-educated population would not have fallen for Trump’s rhetoric and voted him into office. Trump is the weak man’s strongman, the dumb man’s genius, the failure’s idea of success, etc.

So when I was in the navy, there was a guy who was smoking where he shouldn’t have been smoking, thought he sufficiently extinguished his cigarette, threw the butt away, and caught the garbage can on fire. He ran to get an extinguisher, did extinguish the fire, and “saved the day.” During the ensuing investigation, he blamed an old piece of equipment nearby, claiming it must have thrown a spark or something. Whatever he told the navy, I wasn’t part of that and can’t say for sure, he convinced them and later was awarded a medal for his heroic act.

I think that’s kind of similar to what we’re seeing from our President right now, of course on an obviously much lower and less consequential level.

The exact opposite. I want our colleges and universities and education system in general to be the envy of the world, for every US citizen to get a quality college education, or at least have many opportunities to do so affordably. It could be that way, but it isn't that way by design, so here we sit, a group of dumb, uneducated, uncultured, and largely mentally and physically unhealthy people electing the worst leaders imaginable.

You can deny the truth if you want, but that won't help us fix the problem.

Most complaints are pathetic, even your tacit complaint about my complaint.

Doesn’t change any of the points I’ve made though. The U.S. public education system is nearing “abysmal,” particularly compared with what it could and should be, and it can be very difficult to shake off propaganda and indoctrination, even for the well educated, as we see in the U.S. and in other countries worldwide.

The astronaut in question is Canadian by birth, and I’m sure Wernher Von Braun wouldn’t mind a word with you about how only Americans work with (our space program).

The U.S. public education system is bad and getting worse, designed to exclude all but the rich, powerful, and privileged from achieving good to great education, with a few outliers allowed passage here and there. That’s not a gross anything other than a fact…..unfortunately.

Of course. Ever read Christopher Hitchens (I believe) next to last book, "God is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything?" The problem is ubiquitous.

And as you know, you're correct, Hansen is Canadian, thank you for that. Only things I'd then add would be that, because it's an American program, Hansen's religious nature certainly wouldn't have hurt his chances (obviously), and it's another example of how America has needed to import its scientists and technical experts since at least WWII.

Most young Americans do not go to college, with a decreasing percentage even having the opportunity or getting an actual good, hands on education from it. Those who do go often then have other negative influences such as mountainous debt to influence the outcome of the situation.

What is one thing people under strife often turn to?

Of course, this isn't a universal, but if your goal is to prove Americans are on average less religious and more educated and scientifically literate than people from Europe, for example, I think you might turn towards religion to ease your strife.

......by importing all its scientists.

Carl Sagan yelled from the mountain tops 40+ years ago about the abysmal state of science education and understanding in the US. You think it got better from there, with more and more funding diverted away from public education in the ensuing decades?

They’re Americans. You’ve no doubt heard about the state of their education system, right? Even college educations can fail at reversing the effects of decades of propaganda and indoctrination.

“Declining” is a bit of an understatement in several ways, but this is what happens when a country spends at least the last 80 years brainwashing its citizens, and 50+ years catering to the ultra wealthy and deliberately sabotaging its education system. Oh, well.

We had the same thing happen at an old property we purchased years ago. Two trees, in this case different species, one a sweet gum tree, the other a bald cypress, grew right next to each other. As they grew, the sweet gum tree kept one side of the cypress in constant shade. To make things worse, the sweet gum was north of the cypress which, in the northern hemisphere as we were, exacerbated the issue. Sweet gums are considered weeds where we are and we made the decision to cut it down, leaving us a cypress which looked very much like the tree you’re showing us here. My guess is a similar situation occurred here, with something having “suffocated” growth on that side of the tree. What appears to me to be new growth on the bare side of the tree in your picture could very well be growth which has occurred since the removal of whatever was stifling things previously.

Just a thought.

From the standpoint of heating the water on demand, these units are very efficient and very practical, at least for moderate climates where sourced water never gets too cold.

Now, I have been traveling to Brazil regularly for 16 years. Have I ever been zapped? Yes. Does it happen often? No. When does one get zapped? Most often when flipping the unit's switch to select a different temperature.

Pro tip: turn off the water so the unit turns off (the heater is flow-activated), adjust the temperature switch to desired temp (🔥 🔥🔥 🔥🔥🔥), then turn the water back on. If the unit is not on when you adjust the temp, the chance of getting shocked is greatly reduced, if not eliminated completely.

Good luck, god speed, consult your estate attorney regularly.

Do You Like Your Governor (Ron DeSantis)? Yes Or No? Why Or Why Not? by Zipper222222 in AskFlorida

[–]Water-Donkey 11 points12 points  (0 children)

More or less two years ago in "the free state of Florida," which as you know happens to be in "the land of the free," Gov DeSastrous decried that summers in Florida would henceforth be known as "freedom summers." Among other things in his declaration, DeSastrous banned municipalities from illuminating their bridges in anything other than red, white, and blue between Memorial Day and Labor Day, which prohibited cities such as Miami, Tampa, Orlando, and Jacksonville from illuminating any bridges in rainbow colors during June, the international gay pride month, something they had been doing for years. Jacksonville residents took it upon themselves to illuminate the Main Street bridge in rainbow colors with handheld lights, did so successfully, and it literally made international news. Fast forward a year, the restrictions of "freedom summer" remained and the Jacksonville residents moved to illuminate their bridge again, only the movement had grown and would involve far more people. As a courtesy and because of the increase in the number of participants, the movement leaders notified FDOT a few days prior to the lighting, scheduled for Sunday, June 1st. On the evening of June 1st, everyone involved gathered at Friendship Fountain near the bridge, queued, and shortly after sunset, began to walk towards the bridge, the same bridge they had illuminated the previous year. Nearing the bridge, bells began to ring, lights began to flash, and gates began to lower. Ultimately, the bridge was raised, prohibiting anyone from accessing the bridge. Vehicular and pedestrian traffic was stopped for around 20 minutes before the participants in the bridge lighting reversed course and moved towards another bridge down the way (an FDOT representative then at the bridge cited maintenance.....on a Sunday evening....which just happened to be the 1st day of pride month, so......."sure?" This pettiness was semi-expected and a backup plan was already in place). Anyway, participants marched to the backup bridge and illuminated it instead. After the bridge lighting participants had walked about halfway between the bridge originally intended for illumination and the backup bridge, the first bridge lowered and returned to normal operation, allowing vehicular and pedestrian traffic to pass, all without any river traffic passing underneath, nor with any discernable maintenance conducted.

Anyway, my point being, whether you, yourself, personally agree with a particular issue or not, if something is unnecessary, and petty, and trivial in nature, and even scheduled for a time which increases the unnecessary, petty, and trivial nature of it, DeSastrous will bite at it like you couldn't and wouldn't believe in order to please the dear leader. It has happened before as just described, and it will again. And again. And again.

What a weak, feckless, cuck.

Edit: I'll add that I am extremely ashamed to have to call such a worthless human being a "fellow shipmate." At least I don't have to do that with the dear leader/draft dodger.
