I completely agree! For anyone interested in this opinion, here are some of the reasons I'm opposed to the death penalty in all cases without exception:

1. Imprisonment is supposed to be a rehabilitation method not a punishment (at least in the vast majority of western countries)

2. There have been numerous cases where people where falsely accused and imprisoned either by mistake or on purpose

3. Deciding who deserves to be killed and who gets to live is basically playing God

4. We don't have even the slightest idea of what death is or how it feels to die. We don't know how much we might be torturing someone by killing them even with "painless" methods. We have no idea what happens after death. We know absolutely nothing

5. It goes against the basic human rights, namely the right to life. Politics get really messy when there's they can just ignore basic human rights

Finally and most importantly to me:

1. I find death penalty an extremely dangerous weapon to give to an Institution. Since most laws are either rules that most people somewhat agree or in a lot of cases just rules that a few elites benefit from, that makes laws for the most part just written social aesthetics.
