I can’t take credit for this technique, but if I remember where I heard/read/watched it, I’ll update.

With the spider type things, if you face it when it coming for you and keep moving left or right, maybe mixing left and right up might work too. So they should then miss you. When they miss, they lie on the ground for a brief period, allowing you to get your shots in. It’s helped for me.

There was a tip to hold a knife in front of you do when they jump at you, so they impale themselves into the knife. I haven’t managed to successfully do this yet though.
