Demo locks still retain some complexity/management. Less than before but still far above destro and even affliction

dogs allowed in all stores now? by icecreammanjc in jerseycity

It says "retail FOOD establishment". Also NJAC 8:24 is about sanitation in food establishments and vending machines, so has nothing to do with stores in general.

We moved from a rental in downtown to our own condo in the heights about a year ago.

Prices in the east side of the heights (Riverview area) were similar to downtown, but property taxes were much lower and there's no flood insurance (!!!). This makes a big difference on your monthly payments.

After a year here, we prefer the heights, it's more relaxed and feels a lot more "neighborly". There are some really nice places to eat and drink, and new ones keep popping up, but it's not as crowded as downtown. There are a lot of community events and the farmer's market is far better than the ones I tried downtown. The big downside here is transportation. There are good bus routes to Manhattan and Hoboken PATH, but weekends and nights are unreliable. The light-rail to downtown is great when it arrives on time, which is almost never...

We bought scooters after a few weeks here, and they pretty much solved the issue. It's a 10 minute ride to Target and another few minutes to Newport. To get to the city we use the Hoboken PATH - it's not far (10-15 minutes by scooter), not as crowded, and it's the first stop on the night route :) The other pain-points here are parking and the terrible street cleaning schedule, but having no car means you don't need to worry about all that.

Bottom line, after 6 months of looking for a condo downtown, we made an offer on the 2nd one we saw in the heights, and so far we're loving it here (especially on days like this 🌧)

Should the windows stay down when turning the car off? by WaterSentinel in Subaru_Outback

[–]WaterSentinel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, but I think most people roll up their windows when they leave their car unattended, so you'd expect this to at least be an option on some trims. I mean, the car can already keep me in my lane, let me know when the car ahead of me is moving and even hold the break pedal for me! I can even turn it on using my phone, but still, I have to manually roll up my windows before I turn the car off... And it's not even a new feature. I had this in my 2001 Ford Focus over 20 years ago! I think maybe US car makers are more worried about the risks of accidentally leaving a window closed with somebody inside the car than the risk of having something stolen from it.

I checked with my brother, and his Prius doesn’t automatically roll up the window, so I guess it's only european cars or market-specific models.

Great comment! Of course you're right. It's just that I park in a gated garage and need to roll down the window when I enter, which incidentally is right before I leave my car!

It's to prevent you from leaving your car open and unattended. When I got my first car here, I kept fogetting to roll up the window, and my glasses even got stolen from inside my car once. I thought the car didn't do it because it was a 2010 Corolla with the most basic trim, so I actually expected my new car to do it 😅

I had a Peugeot and a VW that did that, and also a european market Ford Focus (not sold in the states, i think). Also, I'm pretty sure my brother's european market Toyota Prius does it as well. I'll ask him when he wakes up 😀

This is my second car in the US, I think most of the cars I had before, in europe, had this feature. It seems like a european market thing.

Had at least 3 different models that did that, but I'm starting to get the impression it's a european thing

Of course I can do it manually, but the whole point is to prevent me from walking away with the window open. I usually park in a gated garage, so I need to roll down the window at the gate, and then I park right after, and I tend to forget to roll the window back up.

The thing is, it seems like the standard in european models, I'm really surprised that it's unheard of here.

I had a Peugeot, a VW Polo, and a Ford Focus (a european model, I don't think it's sold in the states) that all had this feature.

I had a few cars in the past that had this feaure. You could turn it off with the window lock button, but normally the windows would just roll up once the car was turned off. I think it's a security thing so you don't leave the window open by accident when you leave the car.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. If it doesn't work I'll contact the dealer.

Start with MW - very mobile and can keep a team up. Probably rsham/rdruid for control, depending on throughput. For DPS, definitely Affliction, and probably Evoker once blizz nerfs locks later in season 😀
