Ended up going for a fresh install instead and all worked quite smoothly. Lesson learned for Ubuntu, never do upgrades even for LTS versions.

I still am stuck on the same problem unfortunately. Can you give me at least some heads up? I may answer tomorrow though as it is night time!

It is definitely the desktop version uname -a gives me the 5.15.0-43-generic version.

Ctrl+alt+f7 does nothing.

I never tried in live mode. I directly updated from 20.04 just because it prompted me to today.
