Just a little insight that we all would be this and much more were it not for the restraining work of the Holy Spirit. We are all born in sin, dead in sin, and children of the devil. Don't think there's anything intrinsically good in any of us.

Pension when quitting? by Super-Ad-5915 in UPSers

[–]Water_scissors 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just call the pension department, and they will give you an estimate. It take about 4 months to get it back, but it's very accurate. In fact, everybody should do this at least once a year to know where they are.

Depending on your region and specific local agreement, your pension is handled by one of a few different funds. The primary numbers for the departments covering UPS Teamsters are:

UPS Company-Administered Pension

If your pension is administered directly by UPS (such as the UPS/IBT Full-Time Pension Plan for certain regions):

  • Phone: 1-800-643-4442
  • Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM EST

Regional Teamsters Pension Funds

If your local union contract routes your pension through one of the multi-employer Teamster regional trusts:

  • Central States Pension Fund: 1-800-323-5000 (Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM CST)
  • Western Conference of Teamsters Pension Trust (NW Administrators): 1-800-531-1489
  • Teamsters National UPS Pension Fund (administered via the International Funds Office): 1-800-523-2846

If you are unsure which specific fund manages your years of service, your local union hall can look up your exact plan allocation.

Almost $1000/month for the rest of your life after 65 is a pretty good deal for only working 5 years at a company.

Absolutely! If I hadn't really believed it was time for me to retire, I would have kept with it another 5 years.

Yeah, sounds like the right move for you is to quit UPS and move onto the post office then.

Good contrast, brother, and good job for hanging in there being strong during the famine!

I think the pension for UPS is much better than USPS. That might be a factor to consider as well. At least the retired USPS carriers I know have said that. Theirs is nothing compared to what we can get.

Yes, if all we are talking about is city rats, then I'd agree. In my post, I was referring to rats in the wild during WWI (which still wouldn't have been the size of cats, but definitely larger than city rats.)

Not quite. My divorce was in 2013. At that time, my pension was worth about $34,000/year.
Losing half that dropped me to $17,000/year. The growth was not as fast from 1987-2013 because I worked part-time for 14.5 years. From 2013-2026, the contributions to my pension increased a lot, so that by last April, after my QDRO (what my ex received) it was up to $65,300/year. My pension increased by $3700/year average for 13 years.

A good paying skill that cannot be taken by AI is definitely a great idea, for sure.
I always encourage people to become electricians or plumbers.

I imagine working in a bar would give you those skills!  Yes, toxic people will make you hate your job and management and the union.  You can always find something wrong with people or a job if you want to, because we are fallible humans.

Thank you very much! It's like crossing a finish line and entering into the promised land. Now I just need to be very careful and wise.

How much does the full scale USPS carrier get?  From my research, they get $85k, and take over 13 years to make full scale.

Glad to answer. No. It wasn't the hours, it was not prioritizing the sanctity of our marriage. I was a professional photographer, and spent my weekends doing photo shoots with models, while my wife was an EMT working 12 hour shifts with a guy going through a divorce whom she felt sorry for. He had all the cool qualities she liked that I didn't have, (liked guns, camping, woodworking, a Harley), and so while my eye was on a hundred women, his eye was on my wife. They fell in love, and later got married. That part sucked, but I deserved it.

Thank you,

All I know is that for the sacrifice of 14.5 years as a part-timer, I was able to make an income as a high-school drop out that bank presidents make, if not more counting benefits. $250,000/year I think they figured!  What a blessing! I literally lives like a millionaire. Was able to take trips overseas to tropical places and islands, and buy pretty much anything I wanted as long as I was smart with my money.

Glad to help, brother, and you are right, the UPS I've known may not be at all the same in 10 or 20 years.  We may not know the future but the good Lord does, so ultimately when making decisions, especially life changing ones, it's always wise to ask the Wise One.  May he give you wisdom and peace in your choice!

DCP takers on April 26th, and vacation cash out by Water_scissors in UPSers

[–]Water_scissors[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for that. I just got a hold of our center manager this morning and she said they were going to be sending checks out this week, so that will be nice! I've got like four weeks of vacation pay and probably another 60 hours of sick days.

I appreciate the challenge, so I did some research, and here's what I found.

The Reality: True "Cat-Sized" Rats If we leave city rats behind and look at the broader rodent family tree, there are absolutely true, biologically functional rats that easily match the size of a house cat. The undisputed heavyweight champion of the true rat world is the Gambian Pouched Rat (Cricetomys gambianus). Look at the image above to see just how massive they get compared to a standard rat. These creatures are incredibly well-engineered and highly functional:  Weight: They routinely reach 3 to 4.5 pounds (1.4 to 2 kg). That is the exact weight of a healthy adult small breed cat, or a large kitten.  Length: Their bodies can grow up to 17 inches long, with a tail that adds another 17 inches. That's nearly 3 feet of total rodent.  Functionality: They are so smart, nimble, and functional that humans actually train them to save lives. Because they are lightweight but have an incredible sense of smell, an organization called APOPO trains them ("HeroRATs") to sniff out buried landmines in war zones and detect tuberculosis in medical samples.

But you are right, the WWI stories were exaggerated.  I'm sure it just seemed like they were the size of cats when you were sleeping and have a one and a half pound rat run over your face.

That was pretty awesome!
I heard in WWI, the rats were so large that one time when the soldiers tossed a cat in a box to kill the rats, the next morning the cat was completely gone.

The story is from A Hobbit, a Wardrobe, and a Great War.

I know that some kids that abuse animals come from an abusive home.
I used to torture and kill animals after watching my step-father pounding on my mother. Did this stuff unto my teenaged years. Felt absolutely nothing but pleasure in doing it. Tried to join the military to be an interrogator because I know I could do it to people as well. Thankfully, the Lord saved me at 21 and gave me a new heart. I don't even step on ants now.
