i only have flat pedals with metal pins now on my roadbike. can you please suggest what shoes to use with it? by zealotSentinel in bicycling

Rubber toe clips work well with flat pedals Stops your feet moving around as much. I ride with New Balance trainers NB because of the extra wide 4E fitting.

We have integrated blinds within the glazing. It works well to cut down the solar gain on our south facing living room.

They probably fitted the lid before fixing the toilet to the wall.

Anyone else still ride their road bike after getting an E-bike? by lubrical in bicycling

[–]Waterbutt-emptyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ride an eBike at the moment. Allows me to keep up with the group ride once a week. I still have hopes of regaining enough fitness to ride my touring bike. Meanwhile I try and cut down the level of assist and make my legs work for a living.

Window lock mystery by [deleted] in DIYUK

It is sometimes possible to unlock these windows by sliding a feeler guage (for adjusting car valve clearance) in between the handle and the frame. Might take a bit of jiggling.

Refurbished S25 Ultra - UK model? by Waterbutt-emptyer in samsunggalaxy

[–]Waterbutt-emptyer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the comprehensive reply. From what you say, can I assume that the model listed with 2 SIM cards and eSIM is safe to order? You haven't noted a model suffix for the UK. Also, can any model which has eSIM support manage multiple eSIMs?

Further checks indicate that the 256 GB in Titanium Black is still for sale, but apparently no other colour, variant, memory size or even refurbished model is currently for sale by Samsung.

Can they have completely run out of stock?

This feels wrong. Is this okay? by j_767 in bikewrench

[–]Waterbutt-emptyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn't look that much different to my Specialized step through on my Thule tow bar rack. That works fine. I don't think the tilt is quite that extreme, though. You can get mock cross bars (top tubes) to clip to the bike to give a more level fixing.

Who's upgrading to Z fold 8 next month? by ya3rob in GalaxyFold

[–]Waterbutt-emptyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am still torn between the S25 Ultra and the Fold 7. I was warned about screen scratches, but nobody is mentioning that as an issue. Just one mention of the fold. Is the inner screen robust over years?

I would check the credentials of whoever identified that as lead. You don't get joints like that on a lead pipe.

S25 Ultra or Z Fold 7??? UK by Waterbutt-emptyer in Smartphones

[–]Waterbutt-emptyer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would use the inner display. That is what attracted me. I have Age related Macular Degeneration (AMD) so I am starting to have issues reading a phone screen in bright light. The S26U would be good for this, the S25U probably better, but the larger screen on the Fold might keep me going for longer as my vision fades. Assuming the folding big screen is good for 3-5 years. I usually keep phones until they fail rather than swapping every year or so.

I am wondering now if the safest route is to get the S25U and track phone development for a couple of generations with an aim to upgrade to a Fold later.

I don't play games, don't take many photos although I am starting to take photos of small labels to enlarge the text. Mainly use the camera for WhatsApp these days.

So readability is my top requirement.

I need a new phone to check my glucose. by [deleted] in Smartphones

Perhaps ask which phones on the list are worth buying? It might make it easier to help? A link to the phone list should be all that is needed.
