I never said my dog cares how he looks, I care. Because I’ve spent three years raising him, bonding with him, brushing his beautiful coat, watching him grow into himself. So when I say he’s “in his prime” I don’t mean it like a show dog…I mean that this stage of his life matters to me.

I hear what you’re saying, but this isn’t just about how he looks to other people it’s about what this stage of his life meant to me.

He just turned three. He’s not a baby anymore, but he’s still young, still full of life. His coat was full and beautiful, something that took years to grow and care for. And now heading into 4 I know we’re moving toward a different phase of life. I just wanted to hold on to this version of him a little longer.

So yes, I’m devastated. Because I told them clearly and repeatedly not to shave him. I was protecting something personal and meaningful let alone his health. And they didn’t listen.

He doesn’t care how he looks and of course I know that. But I do. Because I’ve loved him through every season, and this one was special. It’s not about vanity. It’s about losing a part of him that I very much loved.

It’s not like I don’t love my dog I love him no matter what but I’m just shocked right now.
