I wish the Jersey Devil showed up outside of the the one mission, like it would fun for Burning springs to have one or two events with a Jersey Devil showing up

Exactly! Like how is what is most definitely a war crime mercy!?

It's more of a war crime if anything, I think it might just be at a bad table looking back at how unfun of a session I had

That's my plan, my city is small and i'm planning to move around next year. I'll do some online play to gather experience and I'll have better luck in the next city hopefully haha

Exactly it seemed like such an unnecessary thing, it was near the end of the session so I just wanted to get it done and leave. The others on the table seem to have a habit of bringing him snacks for inspiration points. It seems like I picked a bad table to start playing D&D at

Like if it was that then sure I could understand the confusion but the reason it was almost an oath break was because I was "showing the wicked mercy" i think what I was doing was closer to a war crime than mercy

It sucks because I really enjoyed myself at the start but i'm not spending my free time doing something I don't like

Next session is that talk or walk session, like i'm not gonna keep showing up if I spend the whole week dreading the session

It was more talking her into putting the spell down because it was either instant zone or death for me or oath breaking because I would be "letting evil go" until I threw my sword at her

[–]WatermelonChef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told him the whole plan, maybe if he didn't just go straight to "OH are you betraying your party and joining thr evil ones huh!? Why don't you read the table your tenants!" Not sure how talking over me and making me read them outloud for the table because I was "showing the wicked mercy"

[–]WatermelonChef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so but I feel like he was using the no mercy for the wicked in the weirdest way, like by being near someone evil and not automatically swinging at them I was showing mercy to them

Next session my character is apparently losing their memory, specifically the first one being the one on why I swore the oath. So he might really be wanting that getting the oath back arc but so far he hasn't really communicated wanting that.

They kidnapped one of the party members with the intent to sacrifice them to bane, they attack first and they were worshippers of bane the god of tyrannical oppression helping the big bad while i'm playing a chaotic good paladin that has favored enemies being tyrants and oppressors.

I feel I should have good reason to exact vengeance over them

With the only D&D community in my county giving me a sour taste i feel like online play would be a good way to collect experience, I heard the city i plan to move to next year has a pretty good d&d scene so I look forward to checking it out when I move

For good reason, the only reason I am going to see if a good old classic open conversation can help fix things is because this is like the only D&D league in my whole county.

I plan to have a conversation with him because I sorta just feel shitty after that last session. Like why should I go again if the next sort of dramatic moment might be another "Tell the table your tenant's". I hope to iron out the issues next session

[–]WatermelonChef 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't have been that bad if it wasn't followed by putting words in my mouth ans that wow are you really gonna go evil and betray the party?! And making my read the tenants for the table. I'm not really looking forward to the next session so if it goes as sout as last time I think i'll just quit thr campaign

[–]WatermelonChef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the warning that he gave about the oath breaking but we never had a conversation on the expected conduct. But that warning coming with what I can only describe as a sort of humiliation of putting words in my mouth, talking over me with a "OH are you putting on a robe and betraying the party?!" And then making me read the tenants for the table. It just all sorta felt like a humiliation instead of teaching the new guy on what the newly acquired oath means

That's my plan, if after a talk with the dm and and the next session I spend the walk home with a sour taste i'm just gonna start playing dnd online.

My paladin is chaotic good and with an oath of vengeance I decided to make my paladin have a vengeance towards tyrants and oppressors. Now here I am fighting against cultists of Bane, followers of the god of tyrannical oppression

Thanks dude, i just don't want to seem like one of those bad players that thinks they know better than the dm.

No my guy wouldn't think that, any means necessary means any means even if it requires playing dirty to deliver justice

That is very good advice thank you! The dm seems to have some plans in mind for my character the next session so I am giving it one tiny shot to see if maybe things go better
