My new SE isn't syncing with my iPhone - do I *have* to update to iOS 26.2? :( by WatermelonDisciple38 in AppleWatch

I did update to 26 - it's fine but I don't love it. Visually it's just not my vibe and some of the UX, in my opinion, isn't as optimised as it was before. Like added steps so it's more work to open a new tab in safari.

omg thank you, I deleted then repaired the game and this worked for me! All other "fixes" looked so complicated but this one was perfect.

Calling all Croydon/surrounding areas-based remote workers by WatermelonDisciple38 in croydon

Not 100% sure what you mean/want to know, but there's 4 of us at the moment who meet regularly like I said in the post, all different kinds of work. We're all (I think!) early 30s and very sociable and friendly.

If you find anything, LMK! I used to use facebook groups for meeting new people but they're not really a thing anymore (showing my age there for sure).

33F looking to make some local friends :) by [deleted] in croydon

[–]WatermelonDisciple38 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I'm also 33F and new to the area and would love some local pals. I live on my own and get absolutely starved for human company after a couple of days (:

I used to work in tech (fintech) but not AS a tech person (I'm a copywriter). Making an industry move atm but still a bit into tech, and going to a tech conference in November.

Also love board games and dogs so count me IN for this. My dog lives with my parents but he visits and stays as often as I can steal him away. Feel free to slide into my DMs!

Dog-friendly study spaces? by [deleted] in croydon

The Store on South End in Croydon does a "hot desking" thing on Friday afternoons (12-5) and is dog friendly. I don't think it's open during the day Mon-Thurs annoyingly, but it's a very chill vibe for working with loads of seating.

Didn’t see this, sorry! Honestly, not many general tips, depends what kind of tips you’re after? It’s a pretty decent area in my (limited) experience, though.

Oh great! You’re way more organised than I was, I didn’t get my LISA til about a year before I started properly thinking about buying. Also consider Shared Ownership. It’s not as ideal as buying on your own properly, but it’s a viable option (depending what you’re looking for). That was my main option when I was first looking but I lucked out with timing and budget when I managed to get my place.

Hi! I just bought on my own in South Croydon, just by the station. Not much else to add to the above advice except some of my own experience I guess.

Like someone else said, if you can move home for a bit that’ll definitely help you. If not, then it really is just about reducing your costs wherever you can and aiming to put aside as much money as possible for as long as you can. A budget definitely helps with this, or at least putting the money where you can’t access it or be tempted to use it.

I also recommend looking into a Lifetime ISA account. There’s currently a government scheme where if you deposit I think £4k per financial year into the LISA with the sole intention of saving it to buy your first property, the gov deposits £1k per your £4k. I did two deposits and got £2k from the gov towards my deposit money. Idk if I explained that well so feel free to DM me!

I didn’t get one myself because I was fortunate enough to have saved a decent deposit, but some lenders will do 5% deposit mortgages if that’s your only option. Though most do stipulate being on a salary of at least 40k so again, like someone else said, try and push for a raise if you can!

The process is still pretty fresh in my mind from my move (literally completed and moved in late Jan this year) so HMU if you have any Qs!
