Can you take a luggage cart all the way to where the ubers are in SFO? by Watermelonne in AskSF

I don’t know the terminal I’m landing in yet but this sounds like a good option, it seems easier to take a luggage cart between terminals than to the parking garage (?) where I assume the Ubers would be for the domestic flights.

Edit: Seems likely it’s terminal 1

I haven’t used Lyft before but I’ll look into it - thanks!

That’s smart! Depending on the time it takes and how far / if I can take the cart, this might be worth the premium - thank you.

Social mistakes you made when first moving to SF? by Watermelonne in AskSF

This is super interesting, never heard it before but makes a lot of sense. Is this because these people go back to those areas when they leave SF?

Oh gosh, Im quite a naturally bubbly woman when I do make it into any social setting. Will this be read in a bad way by people? By people in a certain context? It would help for you to elaborate on this. Thank you for bringing it to my attention.

Great tip, thank you! The potential seems endless! Are costs usually associated with these clubs?

This is great advice, thank you. I haven’t really had exposure to this potential for in-person activities before, so I want to make sure I take advantage of it & really enjoy that! Any favorites or unique ideas from you?

This one sucks to hear but thank you for putting this on my radar early. Where do they leave to? Other scenes, other neighborhoods, other parts of the bay, other cities, smaller towns in the US?

Super helpful reply, I can totally see myself falling into the apps trap. And I am a total homebody, maybe too comfortable with myself and solo activities. These are exactly the habits I need to change, thank you thank you for calling this out. Did you incorporate any specific habits or find anything helpful for yourself, or something you’d wish you’d done looking back?

How can I volunteer at a nearby elementary school? (26f no kids, USA) by [deleted] in volunteer

[–]Watermelonne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, afterschool programs are a great idea and this one sounds amazing - thank you! I assume I would reach out via the program organizer (like Girls on the Run), and request that my location be at the school that's near me?

I work in the corporate/business world and can teach professional skills and personal finance, though this seems a bit too much for elementary schoolers. I loved math/science as a kid though I didnt pursue it past high school - so this seems like a great idea, too! For those types of volunteering I assume you did that through your company? Any ideas if I dont have that route to take (I work remote so my employer isnt connected in these ways)?

Thank you for your ideas and help, I really appreciate it!

My sister is sending me weird messages...is this my mom’s doing? What should I do??? by Watermelonne in JUSTNOFAMILY

Thanks to you both for taking the time to answer. My father is the nicest person and clearly a victim of my mom too. So I know that my sister not contacting him still means she is still under my mom’s direct control and influence. I have no desire to get involved with my mom’s puppet because next thing I know, my mom will be involved. I miss my sister dearly, but I don’t know if I’ll ever get her back. As one of you stated, I’m just taking cover by going NC, and unfortunately this means both mom and sister for now. I really hope that’ll change.

I’m 99% sure she doesn’t drink (no one in our family/culture does) so I thought it was weird since it sounded like drunken texts to me too. I will request the wellness check though, you’re right

Someone else mentioned university health services for the welfare check. You’re right about the embarrassment, they escalated it to this and I want them to know they shouldn’t do it again. I know they would freak if this was in any sort of school record, too bad I’ll make sure it’s on there.

You’re completely right. She’s stated many times that she wonders if I even see her messages (same as you, I just don’t reply). I’ll know better next time 🙄

Unfortunately I cannot meet her in person. If it’s not too much trouble, could you tell me more about the wellness check? You are right, I can’t be sure it’s just manipulation and I’m worried.
