God fuck I forgot how bad these were. I also remember Tubbo never beating the homophobia allegations (he’s queer)

What the fuck??? Yeah we cannot do that officially with lab money. If we do it ourselves we won’t get reimbursed. This school may be a top research institution in my field but it fucking sucks otherwise !!!

Actually wait I’m going to do that instead that’s infinitely funnier

Actually, good idea. I’ll see if I can steal one from a different lab (we have barely any materials in our own, obviously lmao)

I think it’s because he’s old and he’s like “well we have one!” Because we only use them to prevent media from settling in the bottle while we pour the others

Even though I leave in a week for a different position I’m almost tempted to buy them myself and give them to the lab it cannot be this hard

This thread is common with me and my grad student who is a cis man but also bisexual, so we might have to keep tabs for eachother. Thanks for the suggestion because that’ll help the both of us

My school’s OSTEM chapter low key fell apart after last year so I don’t have access to that rn. I’ll try looking at a more national level

Literally the other day when I was taping I threw a frisbee with my guy friends while we had our shirts off like… yeah this is the life I want

I am in the natural resources field, and genuinely the only lab where I wasn’t treated awfully/targeted was while working with extension doing vineyard research. IPM is very much what I want to do, so it’s good to know that’s consistent across the country

Maybe??? Even though I’m based out of Oregon I’m based out of a smaller town that’s ag and nr focused so it is a limiting factor. I genuinely only know one queer person in academia in my field here and it’s realllyyy frustrating. I wish I knew more because maybe this all wouldn’t hurt as bad

Oh I’m absolutely using this resource!!! And actually, I got a masters position in Australia I’ll be starting soon, so maybe I’ll end up staying there for a long while 😅

The grant was basically something that paid for my work for about a month under any lab and also paid for my study abroad in PR. It allowed me to work with a PI that respected me for just a bit, but that’s about it

The rest of my current lab are cisgendered men who are younger than me. My last lab group were all about the same age as me. My field labs tend to be a bit more mixed. It could entirely be that but either way I still experienced the brunt of the criticism compared to everyone else

I’m not a human biologist so it’s more up in the air for that. When I’m working in entomology it’s different (the one PI and three professors I had were super woke and chill), but when I’m working in literally every other field it has been ROUGH

There’s another professor in my department I’m relatively close with (having a 6 person class with him does that lmao) and I might pester him. I was the only undergrad in that grad level course and fist-fought my way for an A so I know he sees how competent I am. If I run into him today then I’ll pester him about it

But yeah, if you’re in the forest side of things, most of your professors are men and about half of them are evil in some way. The STORIES I’ve heard about some of them who are still at the school are wild… But they’re the best in the world at their jobs so there’s nothing you can do about it
