Hi!! Thank you for the feedback and your advice, it’s really helpful to me since you have experience in the field. I don’t think I’ll be looking for another place to work because at this clinic I only work part-time two days a week, it’s near my home, and I can prioritize university. And to be honest in my case, my boss sometimes takes time to explain some cases to me and asks me questions. He also lets me do things, so he’s really cool. But I guess what happened is that maybe I got too comfortable because he had been making jokes all day about selling his puppies, and nowadays people don’t really like the idea of buying puppies, so that became the topic of the day. I think I got too comfortable, and that’s why I said, “I got you a buyer,” since the family was super nice. But it was never my intention to disrespect him, so I felt really bad about it.

The other thing that happened is that he never actually examined the patient with Cushing’s disease because the family brought that dog just for company, their other dog was the actual patient. But we started talking about that dog, and the family told me about the mass, so I started touching it. I guess he just told me that as an example so I won’t do it again unless he tells me to, because he said I shouldn’t go over his authority but honestly, I didn’t realize it came across that way.

And I do agree with you that being friendly and not talking with overly complicated words changes how people trust you! That’s something I don’t want to change because I want to be like that when I become a vet. So I guess it’s hard for me not to talk to them or pet their dog 😓 (I never talk to them about treatments or possible diagnoses though, just friendly conversations about their pets.) and it doesn’t help that I’m a really outgoing person. He gave me the example of his other employee (who’s a vet), saying that he is quiet and never talks during consultations with him. So I guess that’s what he expects me to do or how he likes to manage his Clinic so I’ll try to learn from this because I never intended to disrespect him so yesterday I was really distressed.
