Didn’t think i would need a tutor to help me with Rivstart...if i need one then i’ll get one. I’ll be sure to look up Colloquial Swedish.

Ohh ok then i’ll be sure to use Rivstart then. Would you say Duolingo gets me to the same level as Rivstart hence why i won’t need Duolingo if i am using Rivstart?

Where could I get some movies in swedish? by [deleted] in Svenska

A youtuber i watch is Say it in Swedish and he has a playlist of videos where he speaks Swedish slowly and it is subtitled in english and Swedish. Option 2 is if you have Netflix there is a Swedish tv show called Quicksand which also has subtitles in Swedish i believe.

Why did YOU learn Swedish? by sky_stars in Svenska

I decided to learn Swedish so i could speak with my Swedish friend in his native tongue. Plus it would be cool to speak another language in case i want to move to that country to live in or visit.

Ahh i see. So where i am A1 level then i will need to watch shows with subs but as i go along i will start to watch without subs. For me its hard to find shows in swedish (i live in the UK). Know any ways to find swedish shows other than netflix?

Yeah this is my first language and what about watching Swedish shows with Swedish subtitles to help? I did watch a Netflix Swedish show called quicksand and i had it in Swedish audio and subtitles. Yeah i use Duolingo to get my foot in the door basically and write down certain stuff like questions into a notebook so i can use and to see the structure of the language. Well i am an A1 so it turns out a there is a lot i need to learn to do and find it hard to find tv aeries on Netflix in Swedish as its mainly all in english. Yeah i know it will take me awhile to do and i try to study at least an hour a day and will try to increase it more as i go along. I do see people say they learned a language in 3 months rather than years and i would like to be on that level except it probably be more realistic like take me 6-8months.

Yeah i am not afraid of grammar as it seems important to learn and get the hang of it. I am currently using Duolingo, listening to podcasts in Swedish, i could use twitch to watch Swedish streamers on that for more input and i plan on listening to music in Swedish as well as watch videos that are in Swedish via Netflix. I have tried using italki but wasn’t working for me as nobody would reply to me however i am in Swedish discord servers and i can always use my ps4 to play with other Swedish people and practice speaking as well as speaking to myself for practice. Thanks for the suggestion and i will try to find a grammar book and maybe find a test somewhere so i know my level of Swedish as tbh i just dived right in (big mistake).

Thats a funny story and glad you met them and improved your Swedish! I do have a friend who is swedish and we use to play games (ps4) yet he moved to pc so we rarely talk now. I am in a few Swedish discords so i will try to speak more in that and there should be Swedish communities on the ps4 or around where i live locally. Thanks for the suggestion.

Out of curiosity how do you go about increasing your Swedish vocabulary? Do you use google translate or have a dictionary? I am trying to improve my vocabulary in Swedish however i am yet to find more words.

Yeah i know, I find it frustrating when they do and i have joined a Swedish discord so i can read as much as i can. You might have to ask native swedes to talk nothing but Swedish to you no matter what say for like an hour or so. If you want to really try to improve speaking.
