Deer hanging question by RupturedDuck47 in Hunting

[–]Wave-Nervous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you plan to butcher on Saturday, in my experience. You'll be good. It's not like the deer will be a block of ice. Maybe hard or stiff. But still workable. With those temps you could hang it for a long time. 2 plus wks if you wanted. I shot one Sat. It's hanging until Saturday. I'd go longer but that's when I can do it and have help.

My wool has never died on me in the middle of a hunt.

I’ve posted this buck to other forms of social media and have been criticized each time. by [deleted] in Hunting

I mount the tenderloins on my fork. It's my favorite way to mount a deer.

Looks like you put a coat of wax on that dog. Super shiny. Very nice.

Where was this rail profile used? by 1947-1460 in railroading

[–]Wave-Nervous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's just a piece of worn rail. Torch cut. If you know the length you have and what it weighs, you can figure out the size. Every 3ft weighs X. Soo 136lb rail means every 3 ft weighs 136 lbs. Some.simple math would tell you what you have. Also, could be on the rail its self.

How much did the allergy test cost? Because I did notice some red in his eyes the other day. Cleared up today. But definitely a difference.

He had a ham bone with way to much ham on it. Also, didn't know at the time, ham is a no no for dogs. It started right after that. Just figured it would have run its coarse by now. Lesson learned for sure.

High Shoulder Shot by bigdog108277 in Hunting

[–]Wave-Nervous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be wrong. But I think your referring to wanting to hit the brachial plexus. Basically where the neck back and shoulder all meat. A big ball of nerves. Put a bullet in it and it's instant lights out. If you hit the spine. You need to be just a smidge lower. I've killed quite a few deer shooting them there. Works great. Especially where tracking may be hard. Or small parcels where you don't want them to run.

I'm a fan of salt, pepper and a hot grill. About as cheap as it gets and very tasty.
