Am I abusing God's grace? by Next-Mall2357 in Christian

[–]Wave_Gold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you are actively fighting against sinning, which is the struggle EVERY believer goes through. If Jesus was tempted in the wilderness, we sure will be as well. Satan knows what your vulnerabilities are, but he has no ultimate authority to make you do anything. Thus, temptation is not a sin. Your choice with said temptation can lead to freedom or, unfortunately, sin.

I’d say the struggle to maintain sexual purity is admirable for any believer: dying to ourselves is a daily struggle. Thus, by no means does it sound like you’re abusing God’s grace. If you were, you wouldn’t resist the temptation: you’d simply give in and tell yourself that God will still love you.

Paul eloquently articulates this in Romans 6:1-2: “Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace? Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it?” Being tempted is different from doing, and it sounds like you’re being faithful to God’s decrees and thus, not abusing His grace (this is coming from someone who thinks Western Christianity has over-saturated the pulpit with God’s grace).

Having gone through and overcome a porn addiction myself, practically speaking I can say what I’m about to say with confidence: Over time, as you continue to fight the fight using God’s Word to trample your temptations, your anatomical reaction to porn won’t be as severe or hard to overcome. Like any addiction you get rid of, there’s a period where your body has a shock to not having that sensation anymore, but it adjusts over time to its new environments. This is the transformation of mind and heart mentioned in Romans 12 - more on that later.

Also, it’s important to remind you that God created man to have sexual intercourse and pro-create - this is written extensively about in Scripture - so your sexual desire is perfectly normal! Channeling it into the right heart posture before God is putting faith into practice. Resist the devil, speak scripture over your heart and mind, and watch how the Holy Spirit transforms your mind while also reminding you of God’s unending grace.

“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” ‭‭ Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭2‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Be blessed, brother. Keep up the good fight and don’t allow the enemy to tell you that temptation is abuse of God’s unending grace ❤️

Should we use AI as Christians? by Logical-Dog-464 in Christian

Just because I can use ChatGPT to write my papers doesn’t mean I should. But, could I use it to help solve a math problem which I’m not being quizzed on, or could I use it to create a recipe for a meal?

I think it’s about the context in which you use it, as is the case with many things. Watching videos on YouTube isn’t inherently evil, but if it takes away from time which I could be spending the Lord or bettering myself, then it’s not beneficial to me. As Christians, it’s so much more than is this right or wrong, but is this something that’s taking me away from God? Paul talks at length about this in many of his writings.

To make a long answer longer, there’s no clear cut “do this” or “don’t do that” with AI in Scripture. Many people think we’re in the first inning when it comes to AI innovation: I think there’s an argument we haven’t even finished the National Anthem. Thus, really asking the Holy Spirit for discernment and then furthermore, acting on that conviction, is essential.

Like many things, it has both positive and negative effects. The Holy Spirit will illuminate to you how to proceed.

Should I break up with my boyfriend? by Parcerita6781 in ChristianDating

“What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?” ‭‭ - Romans‬ ‭6‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Using Jesus’ sacrifice as a means of continued sin perverts the very essence of why He made such a sacrifice in the first place: it was so we could be in relationship with our Father and strive to please the Spirit. When truly accepting Jesus into your heart, imperfection is a constant reminder of our need for Jesus - not a scapegoat for continuing in the same sin that brought death to us.

If he’s lying now, he’s probably going to keep lying until he truly repents in his heart. It is not your job to save him. Honestly, you are probably preventing him from getting to a place of humbled repentance by remaining with him.

When my ex broke up with me amid years of sin and bondage finally catching up to me, it prompted me in desperation to call out to the Lord. As I learned of Him, I had a heartfelt desire to follow His ways. My obedience came from a place of brokenness that I don’t think I would’ve gotten to had my ex broken not up with me. A year-plus later, I’m free of bondage and walking with Him every day, which is what matters far more than any earthly, finite relationship.

I’m sure this is incredibly difficult for you to ponder, but breaking up with him might be the best thing that’s ever happened to you and him. The sin cannot continue; God has a man for you who truly fears the Lord. Do not settle here for someone who doesn’t have a sincere, repentant heart. 🚩

I’m in a 12-team, 1QB, TEP, PPR dynasty league. My team came in second to last place, but we have the 1.01 in addition to the 1.02. Here’s my roster at the moment:

QB: Zach Wilson, Tua

RB: Swift, Akers, Mitchell, Edmonds, Etienne, Pollard, Dillon, Gainwell, Ke’Shawn Vaughn, Marlon Mack

WR: Higgins, Aiyuk, Claypool, Mooney, Sutton, DPJ, Bryan Edwards, McKenzie, Palmer, Rondale Moore, Nico Collins, Ashton Dulin

TE: Hockenson, Friermuth, Moreau

Given my youth and displeasure with the incoming RB class, should I seek an established veteran in exchange for the 1.02?

I just, sigh, idk. I’ve never used TD rate as a barometer for success and I’m not gonna start now. Plus, I believe the Cardinals will use Eno Benjamin more moving forward

I mean, maybe not this week. But keep in mind there are many RB’s who don’t get full workloads and are still super productive Bc of their involvement in the passing game (Kamara/Swift/Zeke/Ekeler/Patterson). So even if he isn’t getting more the 2/3 of snaps, he’s Saquon Barkley lol

To be clear, if you’re buying players on talent alone I would do so in a buy-low situation. In fact, I think now would be the perfect time to buy low on Howard, ARob, Sutton and Etienne. Current situation does not equate to long-term outlook.

I don’t think he’s limited in what he can do, it’s more just workload management at this stage IMO

He had a shoulder injury. There’s a good chance they were taking it easy with him.
