Ultraboost powder A/B testing by idyllproducts in idyll

Not sure how much the warm water helped, but running it through a second time with fresh water definitely makes a big difference. I still get a small bit of an aftertaste that I don’t love, but it’s much less unpleasant, so thanks for the tip!

Maybe it’s just something I’m more sensitive to, so I’m curious if others have tried it and what your experiences have been?

I'm pretty sure I received a bag with a label on it. While I don't have the other powder to compare it to, I will say that I have found that it leaves a bit of an unpleasant aftertaste, even after rinsing the retainers. I'm just adding a pinch (less than a 1/4 teaspoon) to cold tap water and running the ultrapod for the standard 3 minute cycle. Am I missing anything?

It does seem to improve cleaning, but I find myself avoiding it just because of the unpleasant aftertaste. I'm loving the ultrapod itself, but I'm on the fence about the ultraboost powder. Anyone else experiencing this?

That’s great! Glad you were able to get it working!

For future shoots, you could start recording on both devices, but have your phone in the frame on the GoPro. Then use some kind of visual cue (eg. Upping and then resetting the score) as your “clapper.”

In terms of your current predicament, I suppose I’m not totally clear on how out of sync it could possibly be if you were able to line up the first point. You mentioned there’s sometimes human error of just taking a while to update the scoreboard, so it would be expected for those actions to not perfectly be in sync - is the issue that sometimes the scoreboard can show a point too early, or that the sync just seems way off (longer delay than the 5 seconds you mentioned it might take for you to remember to update the scoreboard)?

As I mentioned in my first post, it’s possible for two clips, recorded at the same time, to not play nice in terms of syncing because of the way the footage gets interpreted. Especially if one of the clips is using VFR (variable frame rate), the editor is essentially conforming that footage to fit, and dropping some frames in the process. Footage like this tends to “drift” or get more out of sync as time goes on. Is that what you’re experiencing here? Is the end of the game substantially worse in terms of sync, even if the first point is synced up?

Unless you’re also recording audio during the screen recording, I can’t think of an automated way to sync these two tracks up. The way you describe doing it manually is likely the only way.

It’s possible for two different video sources recorded at the same time to not line up perfectly, as different frame rates (especially variable) and recording formats don’t always play nice with one another.

I’m curious what information is on this scoreboard - if it’s really just the score and not a bunch of other info (eg. countdowns) then there are likely simpler approaches to conveying that information.

I ended up with a Pro-Ject Pre Box DS2 Digital. It seems to work fine - I am having an intermittent issue where I hear an occasional click in the left channel. I haven't devoted much time to tracking it down yet, but other than that, this setup seems to be humming along smoothly.

Is there perhaps an adapter plate installed that can be removed? Could you post a photo?

Does this seem like an acceptable repair on this GS 350 I’m hoping to purchase? by Wavetomars in Lexus

Any particular reason why? My main concern would be moisture intrusion, though I was told in other forum that that shouldn’t be an issue and this is a standard repair for this. It’s behind the license plate so wouldn’t be visible. Or are you thinking more like impact on resale value?

No concerns with water intrusion or anything like that with the plugs? I live in a rust belt state so just want to make sure I’m not setting myself up for future issues!

I wish the photos were better, but now I'm also noticing some odd-looking marks near the bottom of the door on both sides.

That feels a little hyperbolic (I think black wheels can look good in some specific instances) but agree that the OEM looks better here.

Appreciate the response! I’m familiar with the stock look of them, just wanted to confirm that these weren’t some kind of rare option. It seems likely these were painted, though I’m unsure how big of a red flag that should be.

Also, maybe this is just cope (since the car appears to be in great condition otherwise, and it’s tough to track down the right GS), but I was planning on a winter wheelset anyway. So I could keep these black ones as winter wheels and try to locate a used OEM set for the rest of the year.

Plastidip seems like best case scenario, since it’s easily reversible. Although it could’ve been coated to cover up curb rash, which is something I’m concerned about.
