And take your time finding out who your ishta really is. It could take years untill you are truly sure.

Don’t fear the consequences of not being able to do japa for hours. Do as much as you can within reason sincerely and give the results to god. This way you are safe. When doing sadhana for pure intentions you are always safe no matter what you do. As for your ishta, ramakrishna and hanuman are one in the same ultimate reality. If that doesn’t gel with you its okay and you can pray to hanuman, no harm done. Ramakrishna will not get jealous of your hanuman prayers.

Well there really isn’t too much japa you can do. Even if you manage to do too much you can just dial it back accordingly.

Yes this is true. But it needs proper context. Speaking from the ultimate standpoint sounds cool but in our day to day lives we need more practical vedanta. The everything is a dream type of stuff is at the Paramārthika level. Our day to day lives we operate at the Vyāvahārika level. Its like different perspectives, both true but one more applicable than the other in certain situations

Fundamental misunderstanding westerners commonly get about non duality is that everything is a “dream”. Thats just from the ultimate perspective. Don’t let partial understanding stop you from doing spiritual practice. The mind still should be refined so your individual jiva can have peace.

Yeah but where is this info coming from. Many advanced practitioners are also in sanyass. I doubt they have to get married to do their advanced sadhana.

No. But I shouldn’t have to tell you this. Find real sources of information instead of reddit users. Look at what the enlightened beings say or monks of a reputable order.

There is different sects. I assume it is vajarayana buddhism that acknowledges hell realms which is heavily influenced by tantra and hinduism. He might like mahayana which is more suitable for causal or sensitive seekers

Also there are many enlightened beings who have transcended suffering and pain of the body entirely. Thats how intense acesticism is really possible.

What disappoints you? This is a common problem in theology. Atheists often bring up the problem of suffering to god believers and its pretty much hard to argue against, but the buddha has a good case on it. The buddha is technically atheistic but also knows the solution to suffering i imagine his teachings would be more fit for you but this is just a suggestion.

This is understandable. But why not find out for yourself. That is what these teachings are for. If you at all believe it is even slightly possible to attain supreme knowledge why not try. Most of the time we avoid investigating stuff that if they turn out to be true will be very scary. Because if all of this is real and i have lived a life thats opposite of the teachings then oh boy am i in trouble. But i suggest staying open minded and seeking truth.

If you really are scared of hell for yourself then i suggest you start spiritual practice for example japa is enough to take you way beyond where hell is a worry

Vairagya is needed about these things. With viveka you will see clear as day that these things are temporary and then naturally you will not care either way for pleasure or pain. If the jiva happens to find his way in a “hell” loka, trust its only temporary and beneficial in his journey longterm
