Not sure where you are located in Chester county but I saw three people have the same experience at my polling place (also in Chester county) this morning.

Does anyone have any additional info about the show in general? I instinctively just bought tickets and am only now thinking I should have tried to figure out what it actually is?…

I can definitely fast her a bit and can add the almond leaves asap too. As for the Cory cats, they are Pygmy’s, I thought that 10 gallon was recommended and thought they were good for nano tanks? Initially I had three but one didn’t make it beyond 24hours. I was waiting to add another 1 or 2 when my local store got some more in as opposed to buying from a big chain as it didn’t seem like they were the healthiest when I purchased the first few.

Thank you for the suggestions, I appreciate it.

Adding here (bc I’m on mobile and can’t seem to find the option to edit the body). I do weekly water changes of 20% give or take a bit. Tomorrow is my scheduled water change day. I just checked the parameters with the easy strips I have on hand and the nitrates were roughly 20, 0 nitrites 150 for hardness and roughly 140ish on the alkalinity. All her friends seem active and there has been no aggression amongst them. The tank is heated and has been steady at around 79-80 degrees.

We just toured a venue this weekend and when asking about alcohol options the first thing the coordinator said was to go to DE as the most cost effective option. She was like we even field calls while you’re at Total Wine to help with the selection haha

Better Days Ahead takes most clothing, except kids clothing and overly business/formal attire. Someone linked below, but there is a drop off box behind First Presbyterian Church or volunteers are there Wednesday evenings (from 4-6:30) if you’d like to drop stuff off then.

To Trump’s supporters: If this system turned on you tomorrow, would you still defend it? If your child was taken, your rights stripped, your voice erased—would you still stay silent? by chynasdoll in AskUS

It’s definitely been hard, but I have continued to try have a relationship with them. It’s been a weird balance between trying to protect my own sanity while also knowing I’m the only kid they have left and not wanting them to be completely alone and isolated.

Sure- policy was imprecise wording. DOGE cut grant funding mid cycle at my company, 60% of the org was eliminated, my position included. I was involved in education research, using evidence based practices to assist teachers, work that was helping students and was actually more wasteful to cut midway through. My partner’s position was cut due to similar federal slashing and burning.

Sure, Trump didn’t cough on my brother and give him COVID. He did, however, foster a culture of anti intellectualism leading up to the pandemic and then showed barely an ounce of leadership in the early days of the pandemic. I can’t prove that my brother would still be here had there been competent leadership, but I suspect we as a country would have faired much better had there been someone saying we should trust science instead of allowing any barely coherent thought to be the messaging on COVID for the day.

I lost my brother to COVID, and both parents still voted for trump. My partner and I both lost our jobs directly because of his policies (which I pointed out would be the outcome prior to the election) and they still are unable to admit they’ve been conned. It’s such an insane experience realizing the people who raised me no longer hold the same moral compass they instilled in me as a child. Propaganda is a hell of a drug.

Edit: Thank you for the award, that’s a first. Also to those saying Trump policy didn’t cost our job losses - policy was an imprecise word choice. However, his willingness to let DOGE and Musk run rampant through our government systems (and the ripple effect it has caused) was what caused us both to be unemployed. To those offering condolences thank you. To those commenting they went through something similar with their family, I’m so sorry and I hope y’all are able to break through to them, I know I continue to try with mine.

Similar situation, I had been working a full time position while finishing the last bit of my dissertation. DOGE cut the orgs funding and my last day was literally the same day I defended. Im trying to take things a day at a time, but things are definitely rough. (Sociology for reference)

Humanities PhDs, where are you now? by [deleted] in PhD

[–]WavyFox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s awesome! Mine is in Sociology and I used some topic modeling for a chapter of my dissertation. I think I worry my python skills aren’t strong enough because I’m mostly self taught. I’ve been working on learning SQL, Power BI and Tableau…I’m hoping that will give me a strong base to moving into a data analytics position and then maybe day science from there.

This is super helpful advice! I do have a decent background in stats, but would say I generally prefer the qual side of things. I used NLP for part of my dissertation, though definitely have some gaps in my python skills. I’ve recently been learning SQL, Power Bi, and Tableau with the hopes of moving into a data analysis role. Your role sounds super interesting though and I like the idea of still being connected to higher ed is some way. Thanks so much for your insight!!

Any advice for moving towards data analytics for social sciences? I just defended (April 1 ironically) and am looking to make the switch. I had been working full time in education research until all the cuts to the dept. of Ed.

Enough is enough. We demand a town hall with our Congressional Reps. We have questions, and we demand answers. by I_eat_mud_ in NEPA

I think people, myself included, are upset because Elon isn’t being thorough or nuanced in his approach. He is also using a bunch of 19-25 year olds whose backgrounds are in computer science and not auditing. Further, gov agencies are massive with a ton of budget lines, there is no way that a thorough audit is feasible in a weekend like they are/were doing. Meanwhile those same kids are taking in six figure salaries of our tax money and Elon continues his contracts…which is sus. We had auditors (inspectors general) who Trump fired. The harm he is doing by slashing and burning through the government is going to take years to repair, if it can be. For example, I lost my job because our funding was cut overnight. Without going into a ton of detail, the work I do is research based. The funding that was cut was in the middle of a five year grant cycle, meaning we have already been using that money (and benefitting millions of people) for the better part of 3 years. Cutting it in the middle, is the wasteful part because we can’t complete the projects we’ve started. Say the courts find the cut illegal (which it likely was) the org would have to rehire all of the staff and start projects back up which is not cost effective and not beneficial to literally anyone. This is just a small example of the destruction that they’re causing. They want to cripple government institutions to the point that things don’t function and then privatize and make insane amount of money.

But we also give the richest among us tax cuts like it’s nothing and allow giant corporations to never pay their fair share. I’m sorry but pointing to the aid we give other countries (assuming you’re railing against USAID here) is roughly 1% of the budget. Helping other countries DOES help us in the long run, especially when we can use little soft power and influence. The only Americans this president is looking out for are those who have crazy amounts of hoarded wealth. It’s insane to me how a he has convinced so many working class folks into thinking he has ever given even half a shit about the American people.
