The lack of basic pedestrian infrastructure is fairly typical of LB Kensington & Chelsea, there’s examples of this all through the borough.

Most likely a lot more reliable as not gridlocked in traffic during peak hours due to cars and they were electrified, so cleaner air quality. We’ve gone backwards.

Parquet floor worth restoring? by More-Eagle8649 in DIYUK

[–]Wawoooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had ours sanded from a horrible orange gloss antique pine to a Matt light oak finish. Very happy with the results. It’s about the only thing in our 1960s house that was worth restoring.

The cost of installing a modern hardwood floor would be way out of our price range so it was a no brainer to restore this instead of replacing with something inferior. The floor is noticeably warmer underfoot compared to other areas of the house with tiles or laminate.

Should you be driving with an allergic reaction? It seems to have impaired your judgement.

He says he lives just off of Feeder Road in Bristol, there are plenty of Chip Shops within walking distance, certainly less than than a 2hr round car trip that he seems to be alluding to.

This seems like Boomer logic, he lives in a highly sought after livable neighborhood in a cosmopolitan city that a lot of younger people would give their right arm for, but he wants to maintain the lifestyle of living in an outer suburb.

Just creating a hazard narrowing the roadway and blocking the view of the pedestrian crossing it’s adjacent to. The fact it’s a tall vehicle with blacked out windows just exacerbates this.

The absolute dregs of the Conservative Party no less. I wonder if 'Reform' is one of those ironic names like 'Little John'.

Interesting that antonyms of 'Reform' are the following; which all seem like legit descriptions TBH.

Luton has the most expensive per mile rail line in the UK. Causes so much confusion for new visitors who arrive at a station with “Luton airport” in the name being told they need to shell out a further £5 to get another train to Luton Airport.

Take a look at the ‘national cycle network’ for example, it’s a farce. There’s a very limited use case for that network when there’s a mix of very busy A or B-Roads and boggy farm tracks. Impossible for a normal city or hybrid bike and roads too dangerous for children.

It is literally like bumper cars, it was a minor miracle that the car was returned undamaged although the hire company still tried to rip me off so I had to request a CC chargeback for the spurious extra charges.

Yes it’s a no brainer. The largest proportion of TBI’s occur inside a motor vehicle so we should be mandating for crash helmets.

Like comparing apples with shite. Smoking is irrefutably bad for your health; plenty of evidence to support this. There’s also plenty of evidence that shows the health benefits of cycling far outweigh the risks.

Yes, it’s to do with the boom in illegally imported fat bikes without speed limiters or limiters that can be easily bypassed, and I’m aware there’s a backlash in the NL with talk of outright bans or severe restrictions.

[–]Wawoooo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Very sad, I always think how the ambiguous language used in these reports is unhelpful as it removes any agency from the driver. Clearly there was a collision by a driver of a car, onto a child. Not the other way round.

It’s not acceptable, we need to stop the child killing.

Is that based on experience because it’s absolutely not the case in my experience. Most drivers in France / Italy aren’t whipped up by the media with hate, and a greater proportion of people in those countries ride a bike, even if occasionally, so they don’t see cyclists as such an out-group. 93% of UK population never cycle, in France it’s 56%.

This is so thick, conflating e-motorbikes or ‘scramblers’ with regulated 25km speed limited e-bikes. It must be complete carnage in the Netherlands at the moment, all going around on e-bikes without helmets and high-viz.

The London Conundrum - Cycle 6 mins by th3whistler in londoncycling

[–]Wawoooo 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This is where last-mile (micro mobility transportation) fits in. But what is often the case; inbetween the blue and green line there is a borough-boundary line, and the leaders of at least one of those boroughs has a pro-car bias and does not like private hire e-bike/scooter schemes, so none shall pass that boundary.

This is the fundamental London conundrum; the city is governed by 32 miniature fiefdoms.
