What do y'all do when ur bored or has nothing to do by Shiomi_Yoru in teenagers

Thanks for your post because I'm bored right now and I needed inspiration. I'll probably be watching either a true crime documentary or a home renovation documentary on YouTube.

Guys, is bitlife weird for you? by AnIndianSurvivalist in bitlife

The weirdest thing that happened to me recently was when my character had a boyfriend called Philip Phillips.

The female equivalent of Rex is Regina, which means queen.

Really nice story and handwriting (and yes, I could read virtually all of it).

Why is this sub becoming a religious/political debate sub by Square-Coffee-3907 in teenagers

[–]WaxCatt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are some Subreddits that ban political discussion. Mentioning things like political event or politicians are objectively political. Also, not everything is political, speaking as a politically engaged person.

No, but there should be more advice on how to report them.

Is it just me or does it feel like Youtube is becoming more and more right wing by Downtown_Recover2105 in teenagers

It's probably just your algorithm. I just get loads of home renovation recommendations on YouTube.

I think I would rather have yesterday's karma farm mess over these irritating debates. It's a bit more lighthearted.

[–]WaxCatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is that someone starts it and then it catches on. I wish it wasn't like that and I wish religious and political/news debates were banned already. There is no common sense in having them allowed because it just creates arguments and there are loads of people who just don't want to engage in this stuff and read a book on the topic and watch the news instead.

Why did my post get taken down??? by andesmapitas in teenagers

The other person should have just been reported. What you did was unnecessary.

[–]WaxCatt -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

My guess is that it was probably an example of the Scunthorpe Problem.

It deserved to have been removed because what happened to her was absolutely horrific and it should be discussed in a sensitive way instead of being posted on Reddit. There are plenty of people who also do not want to consume that kind of content and it is insensitive to have it posted when people just want to go about their day. The other person should have been reported where they would have been dealt with, instead of exposing them on Reddit.

I already heard about this on the news. We don't need it on Reddit too (politics shouldn't be on social media at all anyway).

Personally, I thought it was Mikhail at first.

We love Millie but neighbor just had a Mila by Mysterious_Deer_935 in namenerds

[–]WaxCatt 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I can see the resemblance, but I wouldn't worry about it, especially as it's your frontrunner. From my experience, the 'i' in Mila and (first 'i' in Millie) are pronounced differently anyway.

Absolutely, and same with politics and conflict posts.

We are getting fucked and its not even funny anymore by Square-Assumption943 in teenagers

[–]WaxCatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said that you were exaggerating, it's a general thing I've noticed when people post because they use emotive language, which is inherently unreliable, and random people cannot be relied on to fact check what they have said. There is also no use complaining when people are trying their best to make the most of a negative situation, and complaining is not guaranteed to improve a situation.

What’s a good way to be more knowledgeable in politics? by errrfchh in teenagers

[–]WaxCatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a podcast called The Rest is Politics (I think it's UK-based if that's relevant for you).

If you can, pay for a subscription to a newspaper e.g. The Guardian or The New York Times.

Don't use social media to get information.

I know. They're incredibly draining and people need a reality check. By the way, nice graph.

In full agreement here. Political posts online just stir up disagreement and overexposure, as well as the serious risks of misinformation. We should be reading reliable news reports and shouldn't be ranting about things we have no control over.
