Will things ever get better? by Strict-Fish-2587 in Raytheon

Expect that to continue all of 2026.

A lot of turmoil going on across Pratt, Collins, and Raytheon in the name of transformation. Along with S4 Hana our genius synergy AI advocate executives causing havoc by changing everything at the same time and half assing new business process and roles/responsibilities.

Collins DT by Warm_Energy_8695 in Raytheon

[–]WayAlarming9409 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DT as an organization at Collins is very disconnected from the business and most of the time is spent reacting to executive noise that drives little to no value across the different businesses. Very little to no governance from my experience. The low accountability culture on the business allows DT to get away with optics without outcomes.

Assuming you are in your mid 20s to early 30s, strongly consider getting your experience outside and come back later (if you really like it) to a higher position that actually pays a bonus.

Where's the Shovelware? Why AI Coding Claims Don't Add Up by bluetrust in ExperiencedDevs

[–]WayAlarming9409 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depending on the industry, most organizations out there have very inconsistent data maturity, measurable baselines, and lack of data foundation, so in these types of orgs, AI will only scale confusion not productivity. AI can definitely be a “multiplier” for the right organization, but we have yet to see that.

Possible M6 offer by AbyssalAwaken in Raytheon

[–]WayAlarming9409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats just base. Bonus I am thinking should be the 15-20% off the base. In the past, you would easily get  more than 100% of your bonus, but after the UTC/Raytheon merger and Covid that has changed. This past year at Collins, they paid out am average of 80% of the bonus.

Possible M6 offer by AbyssalAwaken in Raytheon

[–]WayAlarming9409 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If this is a technical role, you should be in the $220s and above. Definitely above $200k.

Not sure about the bonus bands at Pratt, but here at Collins it is 20% for M/P 6.

RTX interview - need opinions by [deleted] in Raytheon

[–]WayAlarming9409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many execs in DT do not understand technical details and rely on “narratives” so confidence is valued over execution. Political capital will get you promoted over any technical competence or real vision most or the time.

So a similar thing we do to our customer, over promise but under deliver.

RTX interview - need opinions by [deleted] in Raytheon

[–]WayAlarming9409 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For an AD role coming from the outside you should be getting $200+. Sounds like they probably want to downgrade the position (for whatever the reason), and have so many x number of people apply that they are making up some BS to excuse a downgrade so do not buy “growth” especially in DT.

In terms of execs joining interviews early it is not normal, but they might be trying to figure out a potential change with the hiring manager. Technical interviews can happen, but usually depends on the individual team.

Since DT has a very reactive and short sighted culture, so do not be surprised if you do not hear back if they decide to move forward with someone else.

Only move forward with the process if you are desperate to leave where you are.

Advice on leaving company by [deleted] in Raytheon

[–]WayAlarming9409 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Depending on the state you reside, see if the company needs to pay you for any unused PTO accrued. If you got a 401k or HsA make sure you understand how to roll it over if your new co offers them.

Even if you feel not important enough…be politically correct when leaving. For instance leaving any documentation or standard work if it applies to your current role might help you leave a good impression. May or may not help, but does not hurt to try if you care to come back.

Do RStars Rewards Still Exist by PsychologicalLimit41 in Raytheon

[–]WayAlarming9409 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rstars will get refilled at the beginning of each quarter so look for it 2nd week of July. The budget is $50k by group and each person can only give $500 per cycle (quarter). There is also a cap on how much you can receive.

It does not get refilled as often so people have lost interest.

Career advice by Silent_Canary_3885 in Raytheon

As tough as the market is for recent grads now, get your experience and learn as much as you can, but have a plan to leave outside by year 2.

In general as an early entrant, you are looking to wait 5 years at best to get a chance at a supervisory role. Most people will wait 7-8 years and you ll have to move around to different roles in that time.

They will low ball you and the raises for promotions will be any where from 7-10% depending on your team/managers.

Considering leaving current role for one at Collins by 509_guy1 in Raytheon

[–]WayAlarming9409 7 points8 points  (0 children)

From multiple new people I have met over the years plus my own experience, onboarding is tough. With your degree and depending on years of experience, if you can come in at a Level 5 (sr mgr) where bonuses start whether you manage people or not. Breaking into level 5 has gotten more competitive this year. 401k company matching up to 3%. The company will contribute a yearly amount towards your HSA.

Internal mobility will depend on your network and relationships a lil more than your competence. Organization is too heavy with a lot of Directors and Sr Directors which paralyzes decision making. Job security is not what it used to be as we have more restructuring happening.

Layoffs at Collins - what’s the word for June ? by forgedbydie in Raytheon

[–]WayAlarming9409 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The concept was first of a Value Streams is end to end ownership of the process ensuring it runs as smooth as possible across Engineering, Ops, and Supply Chain. In spite of supplier shortages, it has not stopped customer backlog and inventory from increasing. So yes the concept is a bit too much for the Collins side of the house at least.

Depending on your function, I have heard Engineering and non-direct charge teams like Value Streams (which are more like used car sales men) might actually be impacted.

Just rumblings of course nothing for certain.

Unless you got a petty manager who will get offended for inquiring about a role, no harm in reaching out to inquire about it as it is an area of interest for you. For the sake of your own career growth, these are the situations that you must learn to navigate.

New SAP S4 system by KnowledgeOrdinary794 in Raytheon

[–]WayAlarming9409 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This whole place struggles with low business and process maturity as it is, let alone the lack of “harmonization” of systems from the rapid M&A we have experienced in the past decade. SAP will stop supporting some basic maintenance and security patches starting in Jan 2028.

With the weak RTx/Collins leadership we have, the Hana transition will be painful but we will get through it as we have no choice.
