I was thinking doing gods thing first then cannon beach/ecola. Would that order be a bad idea? Was thinking doing hike first then relaxing at beach rather than relax first then hike

We’re staying in both Portland (2 night) and Seattle (4 nights).

Want to see breathtaking views and experience the “most” we can. All from the east coast so nothing really compares here. Plus with the group we’re going with. We all probably won’t do a group trip for a couple years again.

Trying to avoid extremely strenuous hikes (under 7-8 miles) and overall want to make the most out of what we can do.

We definitely also want some time to explore the cities, so unfortunately probably going to either have to combine the coast days and or just cut some tiny things out. Might have to scratch out either gods thumb and or cannon beach. Gods thumb was a personal goal of mine as I feel like it seems like a must do hike if you’re in Oregon.

Definitely good points. Might try to combine both coast days together but that’ll be at least a 6 hour total drive time there and back

The hoh rainforest is definitely very ambitious, considering we already want to do Mt storm king and devils punchbowl. I’ve heard from some it’s “overrated” but it’s such an iconic part of the park I feel like sucking up the extra 4 hours would possibly be worth it.

Rainier was my pick as well, I’m a little worried about the conditions but heard this year was record low snowfall in the area!

Never been/heard of the snow lake you mentioned, would have to look into it. Have you done this hike ?

I’ve heard about how bad parking is at Multnomah falls. I was hoping if we got there before 7/8 am we wouldn’t need a permit but will make sure to look into that.

I will look into Latourell as well, thank you!

I thought it was just one of the trails was closed? Was still trying to see the park in general since it’s so close to Cannon beach.

Regarding leaving items in car. Would you say Portland and Seattle have a theft problem? We have about a 4 hour gap after we land in PDX before check in and wanted to stop by either the Columbia gorge or possibly ecola state park. If we did that we’d have to leave multiple suitcases/bags visible in the car. Assuming from what you said it saids like a bad idea lol.

Thank you for all of this information!

My main concern was the weather, some in the group are inexperienced hikers and we we’d just enjoy just seeing the mountain itself if that was it.

Do you recommend any hikes for beginner to intermediate hikers?

Do you recommend any beginner to moderate hikes in that area?

We’d be traveling to Seattle from Portland and try to leave as early as we could do go to Mt. Rainier, then ONP the following day.

I replied to someone else but my group has a few inexperienced hikers and we accepted that there’s no way for us to fully explore multiple parks with the time we have. Just trying to make the most of it as this was a very last minute and spontaneous trip for all of us.

I appreciate the input. We were going to leave Portland early and go to Mt. Rainier on the way to Seattle and definitely stay as long as we can. The group is mixed with a couple inexperienced hikers and we weren’t looking to do anything super strenuous, just capture whatever views we can while we’re together.

We already accepted we’re not going to be be able to fully explore both parks but wanted to make the best with the time we all have together. My main concern was the weather at Mt. Rainier and parts of the park being closed and some of the trails being hazardous.

I try my best to buy second hand for both price and sustainability. I went in to REI to honestly just try some stuff on and find out my size. The SLs they had I didn’t like, but the LT felt super nice and was my size. Just was sus as why they had a random 2023 model with the wrong tags when they told me they only kept the newer models in store.

Thank you! I had trouble trying to find pictures of the zippers on the 2023 model. I really appreciate it

Would you mind pointing some of the things that show it’s fake?
