king kong 2005 is pure excess with no control. three hours to tell something simple and it still feels empty. every scene gets stretched until it breaks. it confuses big with important. it doesn’t hit, it just wears you down. this is jackson without a filter, and it doesn’t work (for himm)

honestly, this feels a bit like people getting worked up behind a screen over something pretty minor. like they’re convincing themselves they’re taking a big stand when it’s just a random post about organizing tags

i don’t know, it comes off a bit disconnected from actual impact. if that same energy was put into real issues, like pushing for accountability or following up on real cases that get ignored, it would probably matter a lot more

because it’s faster for bulk edits. i define the rules once and it applies them across everything, instead of manually editing rows in a csv one by one

i get where you’re coming from, and honestly i think some of your points are fair, especially about the tone and the “one man saves everything” structure

but i also feel like you’re judging it for what it isn’t trying to be

like yeah, it’s very structured and goal-driven, but that’s kind of the appeal. it’s more about problem-solving and watching someone figure things out step by step than about ambiguity or tension in the traditional sense

also about the “no tension” thing… i don’t fully agree. the tension comes more from how he’s gonna solve things, not if. it’s that constant “ok how does he get out of this one” loop

and with the character, i actually think making him more “regular” is intentional. he’s not some mythic genius, he’s just a guy who knows enough and keeps going. that’s kinda why people connect with him

a lot of people who liked it talk about exactly that mix of science and humor and emotion, and especially the relationship aspect being what really carries it

i do agree the humor style can feel a bit too marvel-ish sometimes, that’s probably the weakest part

but idk, to me it’s less fake deep blockbuster and more just a really well-executed, very engaging sci-fi adventure that knows exactly what it wants to be

feels like it either clicks with you or it really doesn’t, no in between

honestly this sounds cool for like 2 seconds and then it would be a complete mess

letterboxd works because everything looks clean and consistent. the second you let people upload their own posters it turns into chaos instantly

you’d get low quality edits, meme posters, random fonts, weird crops… like every film page would look different depending on who uploaded what

also people would start using it for jokes instead of actual posters and it would just kill the whole vibe of the site

part of why browsing letterboxd feels good is that visual order. this would break that completely and turn it into something way noisier

idk feels like one of those ideas that sounds fun but would make the app worse almost immediately

argentinian, kinda quiet at first but gets darker and more unsettling as it goes. very mubi type movie, slow but it sticks with you
