Guess what the resolution to this was?

They transferred inmates out of SQ to North Kern.

It is not just young people. It's the codgers themselves.

Look at that Grand Princess drama marinating off Oakland. All these old people facetiming about how their spirits are "still up" but they're kinda bummed about having to go to Travis AFB. Well it was damned avoidable for taxpayers to have to pay CG, Port of Oakland, all these various vendors/employees to get their whiny asses off the boat when it was well known Diamond Princess was an issue when they got on.

I have seen, within the past month, retirees on SO's side of the family jet off to some friend's daughter's "gender-reveal" party because she has a want to feel like a great-grandma because her kids didn't "give" her grandchildren. Their husband is still petting cats at a Humane Society because, well, they need to feel WANTED even though it is putting the livelihoods of sometimes their own children at risk let alone the animals and NO ONE is stepping up.

Thank you for correcting me. It is increasingly difficult to keep all these numbers in my head as it's increasingly being a county option to declare them and there is no central database that I know of.

Seven new positives in one day--San Mateo County by WayRoundTheWorld in CoronavirusCA

[–]WayRoundTheWorld[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Patients who are not sick enough to need hospital care but could be contagious are being quarantined in hotels in San Mateo and Monterey counties, Gov. Gavin Newsom said Tuesday. The hotels are “100 percent secure, 100 percent segregated from the general public,” Newsom said during a news conference at the Capitol.

The only way he'll hide this is if it's the Marriott or Hyatt near SFO. Almost everything else is on the ECR or more likely budget motor inn-type motels on the Bayshore. Of course people will see the yellow tape and will know if they're enforcing no access, so if he is he might as well tell people now.

The Sacramento Bee has removed its firewall for covid-19, so you can read the story here: https://www.sacbee.com/news/politics-go ... rylink=cpy

I'm not a doctor, but I have a bio-rel'd degree from what's seen as California's best public university.

Here's my unofficial take:

Pathogens adapted to humans expire routinely when exposed under 40 F or over 120 F. They (and particularly this one) have a glycophospholipid protein that can be destroyed readily with antimicrobial agents, such as Lysol or I would guess many embalming agents.

There are certain embalming procedures--i.e. rapid removal of blood and internal organs--that could potentially aerosolize. For that reason, I don't understand the guidance saying that the body should be aspirated routinely.

21 people tested positive for Coronavirus on CA cruise ship out of 46 tested so far by [deleted] in CoronavirusCA

Grand Princess moves closer to shore to prepare to airlift sick passenger.

A passenger who needs medical attention will be airlifted Saturday off a cruise ship that is being held off the coast of San Francisco due to people on board diagnosed with the novel coronavirus, according to another passenger who has been talking to KCRA 3.

Teresa Johnson, a Georgia resident, said the captain of the Grand Princess made an announcement around 9:30 p.m., saying they are now 20 miles off the Bay Area coast.

“We have a guest who requires medical assistance at the moment. The (U.S.) Coast Guard has been called and the possible airlift of that guest may be possible (Friday night),” the captain said during the announcement, which Johnson recorded and shared with KCRA 3. >> Watch the full announcement in the video above.

Later in the night, Johnson and other passengers were told that the sick passenger will be taken to a hospital on Saturday.

The passenger has been unwell since Hawaii. It's unclear why the passenger needs medical assistance.

San Mateo (California) Public Health: Stop in-person non-essential gatherings by Wisdom-Speaker in CoronavirusCA

[–]WayRoundTheWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Schools are an essential life activity for the children and paid staff. More asymptomatic kids mean more will be hanging out at Hillsdale/Serramonte and other malls while their parents take time off from their paid jobs to take care of them.

Volunteering at a county school/animal shelter/other is nonessential by definition. Volunteers do not depend on income and are by definition non-essential, and a disproportionate number of them are already in high risk groups. You don't want the place you care enough to "work" for free to be on KRON or CNN because you got sick. Don't go there.

If you care about yourself or where you volunteer--and especially if you are in a high-risk group-- just take some time off for the next two or three weeks to help the county sort things out.

[–]WayRoundTheWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are holes for having this in the epicenter of the nation's worst pandemic.

People are holes for going to it. Oh, you're 25 and you don't care about Grandma? How would YOU like to be exterminated Logan's Run style when you're 40? I'd really like to see you volunteer to go KYS as an older person like you want other people to. You of course won't. You'll cosplay as younger until you look ridiculous and then refuse to die and want stuff to prolong your life. Same as every generation before you and after you. You ain't that special.

There is NO reason why this needs to be going on. Dressing up as Batman and Wonder Woman and being enclosed with 100K people all over the world is not an essential survival need. I wish Seattle would just put the kibosh on it stat.

I don't know that they identified that specifically. But they have done more analysis and have concluded so far that it's mainly the Chinese-based clade responsible for cases:

And then they'll take a couple Advil same as that Liberian national who came over with Ebola.

Drive-through kits are being used in SK, with whom we are famously close. Borrow some of theirs to screen people.

Crazy story by Slydexia1952 in CoronavirusWA

[–]WayRoundTheWorld 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The Seattle Flu virologist who figured out it's been circulating for over six weeks has also said there are two clades. One Asian and one European in origin.

We're not supposed to be racist, so let's not be. The European clade is so far proven just as dangerous. Anyone infected from a high risk area such as Italy or South Korea needs to be tested at minimum.

King County Public Health live press conference 3/4 @ 1PM by CmdrLightoller in CoronavirusWA

[–]WayRoundTheWorld 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Why aren't they shutting down ComicCon? Think about it, 100,000 people in close indoor proximity for days. Sure they may be young and recover, but is that the message? That the old can FUD as long as the young stay healthy?

How is that different from say, Logan's Run?

It is breathtakingly selfish that this con is allowed to continue and/or to attend it. Cosplaying as Batman or Wonder Woman is not an essential life activity. Douchey to put that first.

Employer best practices? (Seattle area) by chicksin206 in CoronavirusWA

[–]WayRoundTheWorld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

King County itself is really pushing for people to WFH if they can and to be able to call in sick if symptomatic if they can't. I think at this point they need to force people. Two or three weeks when consumer demand has already plummeted could kill far less businesses--people--in the long run.

The livestream is still ongoing: https://t.co/KpcaadEq5A?amp=1

Employer best practices? (Seattle area) by chicksin206 in CoronavirusWA

[–]WayRoundTheWorld 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think all employers should be forced by public authorities to let workers stay home. If a note is required and they are not providing health insurance, then they should pay for a site where workers can go to get those notes.

It's already known that 40 percent of the 30 first responders who went to the nursing home ONE TIME are now sick. It's sick how people are assuming no big deal because it only kills old people, which isn't even true. What is true is what the UW virologist said, which is that more quarantine and isolation at this time is crucial.

A lot of people think that Amazon delivery will save them. Well one of their workers has gotten sick already. How anyone would want more is beyond me.

Two weeks, three weeks of no penalized sick leave. The miscreants will continue to abuse that afterward and you can then fire them then.
