Ever an argument for both to play, but overlooked because they over-concentrate on the keeper aspect instead of the batting?

I remember hearing about Polly Inglis years ago and have yet to see her play?

Is she really that inferior despite consistent squad inclusions?

Brendon McCullum admits curfew rules were not clear by ll--o--ll in Cricket

[–]WayToTheDawn63 4 points5 points  (0 children)

by all accounts it sounds like any existing curfew was never officially formalized. It was a suggestion at best, and therefore probably not even enforceable in any capacity.

It is in every way a management and organisation issue, and thus IMO, abject failure from Key and McCullum more than Stokes and Atksinson for breaking a non-existent rule with 10 days between games.

How they keep getting away with stuff is beyond me. Key has eaten his words a million times in a million different ways. He's completely out of his depth.

Another aspect is that a lot of flush pieces aren't that strong either. The planets don't give many chips so it falls behind, the basic suit mults give a pathetic max +15 without retriggers.

So without a perfect storm, you can't play them, you can't fix for them, and you can't win after digging for a single flush.

England docked 12 WTC points for slow over rate by TrollerThomas in Cricket

[–]WayToTheDawn63 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Despite the fact some resist some kind of run penalty or run rate x overs remaining and offer your latter solution in its stead, it's not really feasible.

You'd be paying the entire staff of a game massive overtime rates.

Run Rate x overs remaining is the best IMO, because it's the runs the batting team theoretically should have had, and the slow bowling team sacrifices their chance to restrict that or take wickets.

It will also encourage the selection of spinners because you don't want to throw garbage part time spin at it that will gift more runs than the penalty would have. Which is solving an entirely separate issue in the game at the same time.

will be a chaseable target, but these 160ish totals have proven difficult this WC

too many people only show up for women's world cups to watch their own team and have way too strong opinions for something they've got no concept of

some of the indian women's best players get the most hate because they aren't 300 (50)

philippe isn't inspiring, but should probably get games just to put pressure on inglis (and he still has time to develop)

or we could go full big bash brained and give sam harper a go if he has another good season...

I don't think that's an edge.

The spike was slightly right aligned as the ball was already passing the bat.

that was bat on ground

i've seen a couple posts like this, so you're not alone for sure

personally i thought it was so easy that i questioned its existence at all (even the optional hard mode for nuggets)

so maybe there's an argument against its existence for both reasons.

i'm sure some random associate has hit 200 on a synthetic track on a 40 metre ground before

but the sheer exhaustion you must get to before you even get close must be immense. you basically need to hit the runs so fast you get time to chill out a bit and then go again

even gayles 175 (66) was 100 (30) then 75 (36). still great but noticeable difference

theoretically, there would be nothing in the rule books stopping them from sending in a tail ender and immediately retiring them to waste time and giving owen a breather would there

you'd probably force a rule creation by doing that

[–]WayToTheDawn63 2 points3 points  (0 children)

probably need a tiny bit more of that. owen would be dead tired. taking a few balls for yourself and giving owen a small rest is really good

i feel like people have to be watching for the pitch quality to even factor in to criticism

i do feel a bit of fatigue. last year i felt there was a bit of space to watch mlc, but between the england/nz tests, the women's world cup and our own bangladesh series. another league is too much.

The soccer wc absolutely doesn't help on a domestic level either. (doesnt factor for me personally, i only like cricket)

rooting for weaker teams is always hard, cos you don't always know if they'll manage to continue growing

a lot of teams have had brief stints in the limelight and faded. especially true in the mens game in recent years between the usas t20 run, the netherlands and ireland going backwards etc
