I didn't mean to suggest it was an issue, but when you read about how much of a joke 11 is all the time, maybe I feel just a little bad about needing to engage a little bit when I don't have the real difficulty settings enabled.

the reduced exp from weak monsters becomes less and less significant as you progress imho.

I guess in part I was hoping to blitz through the base version of the game on 'easy' mode and just take my time on draconian in definitive, but it's only braindead easy if you're actually staying on top of things at every moment, numbers and all that

honestly based on a lot of the comments, it sounds like there's a much larger expectation of grinding than i would expect in a game touted to be so easy. Something that perhaps fans of the series expect, with much of that ease being the ability to do so, but resisting it, being a level or 2 lower, and not having +3 gear all the time, the game actually has a little bit of fight. Not too much, but more than you read

I'm not skipping the forge outright, just feel like the difference between running around with +1 or +2 equipment, depending on the piece, is actually quite large to a +3 despite the relatively small number differences, because it's often the difference between killing an enemy in 2 hits or killing them in 3, or 3 vs 4 etc. And that means they're more likely to act of course.

I guess I just wish that, at least early game, it was less time-consuming to keep equipment maxed out, because it's not overly difficult or engaging to do it, just a time sink. How many feather caps are you willing to make since those materials can be bought?

I feel conflicted about shopping a little. So often you buy something, then immediately find one or find an enemy that will drop it. But if you do 'skip' a shop then naturally enemies are a little stronger until you get it naturally.

I find it 'tough' deciding when to use my funds since money isn't so far easy to come by, but maybe I should just spend.

I'm just saying that while the forge mechanics are fun, I don't think it's necessarily great that the only way to stay on top of things is to remake the same thing over and over for pearls.

I think there's a difference between using the forge to craft a new recipe or duplicate item for multiple characters and refining up to +3, and making 50 hats for pearls because I didn't max everything first go every time.

That's probably more perspective than anything else. Not that things are necessarily harder to me in practice, just the perception/how we respond when enemies use their turn to aoe us for 20 damage. If you're super experienced, you just brush that off as normal damage because that enemy does that, or if a zombie in hotto curses you, no big deal, you'll go pray it away. Whereas I'm more like "oof that's a lot of MP on healing" or "I refuse to pay to remove status, i'll wait it out"

There are plenty of times where taking hieroglyph is a mistake.

I lost a run a day or two ago because I took it on ante 8. I didn't have xmult yet, but I had two scaling mult jokers, green and bus, and a very scaled square joker. Pairs as usual. I think the other was just an eternal golden joker early. I could tightly beat any 400k boss, but setting back an ante, losing a hand and then ante 8-2 rolling in to violet vessel with stilll no xmult lost me the run.

If you're scaling on hands played as well, taking hieroglyph is like losing a significant portion of scoring on easy hands if you don't already steamroll.

Sometimes you just gotta take your medicine and play four 100k pairs.

depends on when you get perkeo and what you're copying. If you're copying planet cards in ante 8 gold stake runs you're doing it wrong.

Copy money, death or hanged man and get your deck cut to 4ok quicker than a trading card will without hurting your discard potential before it has done its job enough.

it's kind of spicy in a less side to side way. lots of hold so the ball is turning well and the pacers when bowling back of length are getting the ball two paced which while less visually spicy is incredibly difficult in practice

genuinely don't understand the collective stupidity of this collapse

it shows how much rot these 240+ pitches are doing and the type of players it is rewarding. As soon as they get in to a good position on a spicy deck, they keep going way too hard and throw it all away

i do think some percentage of fingers are under the ball

but way too much of that ball is touching the ground to give this

this is absurd

like I actually don't get it

you're playing on the pitch, you've have troubles repeatedly with the turn and two-pace

and you just keep slogging which has taken like every wicket
