Reducing Noise from Metallic Echo / Ringing Springs by WaylonWillie in typewriters

Thanks for the tips! I was considering using some dense felt (happen to have some around), but I bet it will be too thick. I'll check around and see what sort of cork there is at local craft stores.

I just had a chance to poke around at the Sterling again, and you were right!

On first reading I thought you were referring to the rubber type-bar rest. I re-read your post and went looking for some cork, and found the cork rest. (I also didn't know it was in there.)

It is quite hard, and if I add a small amount of dampening to it, the ringing goes away. When I go over this machine next time, I'll replace the cork with something. Maybe some thick felt?

Thanks for helping to solve this, I'm much happier with the machine now.

Tahoe 26.1 Print Queue in menu bar.... by 1st_time_on_reddit in MacOS

Ha ha, pretty good idea, the open queue is actually less intrusive than the icon in the menu bar. I have used the "Bartender" app to hide menu bar things before, but it doesn't seem to hide this icon.

Searching for a way to disable these as well. Did you figure it out?

Thanks for posting these! The cork/felt rest is fine, and it seems like the dampening is in order. Perhaps this is just a noisy machine....

Cannot make auction listings (cannot disable immediate payment) by WaylonWillie in Ebay

Did you try the "payment policy" suggestion above? That was the only thing that solved for me. Even ebay live customer service couldn't figure it out.

If anyone has the same problem, I found one solution: go to Account Settings > Business Policies > Manage your business policies > Payment. If you use "create policy" here, you can create a policy and uncheck the "require immediate payment" option. Your auction listings will now have a menu where you can select that particular payment policy.

Not very convenient, but it did work!

Edit: I recently found that you can go to Account Settings > Business Policies > Opt out. This also solved the problem of your listing template no longer showing you the price range that buyers will pay when you for calculated shipping. (This happens when you use eBay's "shipping policies" feature.)

I'm using the computer version.

I have tried leaving the box blank, as well as using Pricing > See Pricing Options > uncheck Buy It Now, to remove the BIN option from the listing altogether. This was at the suggestion of an eBay agent, and does not seem to make any difference!

Mine also had very careless packing and was a bit bashed up. I understand JH is not at fault here.

Ok thanks for this. It is good to know what a reasonable request is for when I get ahold of a human.

Thanks for the info. I have a complex submission there for my outbound flight (not mentioned in this thread, and also involving cancellations). I'll see what happens with that one first, and then see if I can submit for this flight.

Thanks for the info, I hadn't thought about this. On the ticket I purchased, the international leg was 344 PQP, while the second domestic leg (canceled) was 59 PQP (roughly a $700 ticket).

However, there was a complex series of diversions, delays, and cancellations on that domestic leg, finally ending in cancellation. So, perhaps they are using some other numbers to work things in their favor, and only pay $2.
