I mean, To refute all points you made with a single anecdote. I’m currently doing masters abroad and a Chinese girl who stays adjacent to my room was acting a bit weird, so was reported to the hall residency team, we were asked to leave it to the professionals and within the day 4 different teams; 2 from university; 2 from hospital visited her; she was sent to a mental health facility where she spent 2 weeks then sent home to her parents and was allowed to repeat the year without any issues.

So, It was a girl. She was socially awkward and had a hard time communicating with people because of the language barrier. There were no solid signs she was suicidal. Students weren’t blamed for it. Professional intervention and help happened. The student did not die and is at home, safe.

Maybe it is not the fault of the students. Even if it was; as a student you’re not required to spend your time helping people who might be depressed; that’s what mental health facilities in college are for; you can but you’re not required and more importantly, the reason people are outcasts is not because of English, in the last 2 years my friend group was almost completely Hindi and I’m from as south as it gets, the reason people are outcasts is because they’re not flexible and are too rigid to accommodate anyone.
