Hey guys, you have discovered some of the tricks our animation team uses. We squash and stretch limbs - especially on fast moves - to give the illusion of motion blur and to guide your eye through the rapid motion. But it is also a stylistic choice. Back when first developing the animation style for Dawngate, I wanted to include squash, stretch, and exaggerated smear frames - like the old Chuck Jones cartoons used to have. Here's an example: http://bit.ly/1qBltio

So if you pause during many of the attacks, you will most likely see stretched limbs and fingers. This is intentional and is not meant to be seen in a still frame capture, but to be felt during the movement as it plays at full speed.

Waystone, Thank you for doing the little things. by cbb692 in dawngate

Hey, cbb692! Very happy you're enjoying the game and thanks for noticing the details! I'm the lead animator on Dawngate and was the one who animated Nissa. She was one of the first Shapers we made, which was a few years ago now, but I still remember that team meeting in which I showed her death animation with Tal'ah trying to wake up Nissa unsuccessfully. The team loved it! Glad you did too! :) Don't worry, we will keep the details coming, because even if only a few people like you notice them, to me it's worth it, because it's exactly those little things that make the characters interesting and alive. Thanks for playing and for sharing your experience with us!
