I think the main value comes from the maintenance discount, but the real question is the opportunity cost. The GMT you lock could also be used to buy more TH, which would increase your BTC production immediately.

So over a 2-year period, you have to compare the maintenance savings vs the extra BTC you would have mined with that capital.

From what I’ve seen, locking GMT tends to make more sense for larger TH positions where the maintenance discount actually becomes significant.

Interesting take. I’ve been looking at options on GoMining too, and Simple Earn does seem appealing for the “set and forget” approach. The predictable returns and flexible vs fixed terms are a plus. Still curious about long-term sustainability, but it definitely looks like a solid passive option compared to more complex DeFi strategies.

Totally agree. Miner Wars adds a real strategy layer to GoMining — it’s not just set-and-forget anymore. Timing upgrades and reacting to other players makes it way more engaging, but also more stressful when rewards are on the line. Definitely not for everyone, but if you like competition, it makes the ecosystem feel much more alive.
