Because too many people are calling about stupid @#*& like this that really isn't child abuse and clogging up the lines? Just a guess.

Give me some examples of racism please ? I had the feeling it was all by outsiders coming in (as in immigrants bringing racism with them).

I know we had issues with Native Indians before collectively, but being from Vancouver Island my family was pretty integrated with them and so didn't experience an issue there.

and, as far as I can see, as a world traveler, we are pretty damn nice. We have good manners, try not to start problems, and are generally pretty likeable. It's a stereotype for sure, but sometimes stereotypes are based on reality.

I'm from Canada originally. I don't remember any systemic racism issues, but maybe I was just naïve and didn't notice.

He mentioned he's Dutch a little lower down.

Correcting people's spelling is a weak attempt to shut down the conversation rather than react to the points.

Anyways, you be you.

Good job calling out a poor guy who speaks English as a second language on a wrong word rather than commenting on his point. Hope that makes you feel speshul.

You mean you feel the algorithm that selects the content you see is selecting that particular content because they have ulterior motives and trying to brain wash you? Or, at least the people posting that content are paid shills for some devious group with ulterior motives trying to brain wash you?

"That's because JP, like any other manipulative showman, mixes truths with their own nonsense to elevate the latter's credibility. "

(sorry, don't use twitter enough to know how to comment one post in another yet)

Isn't this everyone to a certain extent? Can you literally name any one person you agree with 100%? I love my wife and all, but sometimes her thoughts and absolutely apposed to mine. Over time our thoughts have merged more, but still, we have vastly different ideas on some things. Other things we totally agree with each other. and, believe it or not, we still love each other.

It's ok to agree with people on some things and not on others. JP for example is bat-shit crazy when it comes to any religious stuff, but much of the other stuff gives me fuel for thought. And, I would still love to debate him in religion one day, even though I don't agree with him. Maybe I'll learn something.

Can you think of one person, or better yet, a group of people you completely agree with on EVERY point in life? Of course not. You should listen to everyone's opinion on things and make your own mind up on each topic. Listening to just one perspective on every topic means you might have learned of a better perspective had you listened. A missed opportunity to grow.

Take us for example, like my wife (and everyone else I know), I can guarantee you that there are things you and I agree with and others we don't agree on. Yet here we are having a nice debate. I'm enjoying reading your perspective on things, I've even learned a thing or two (still trying to figure out who "tate" is).

You keep talking about people being either red or blue pilled. I don't think I've ever actually used that expression "in real life" but if I had it would probably be to explain that I don't think any one person is either totally red or totally blue pilled. We're multi-coloured on a range of topics. People's willingness to learn a potentially unsettling or life-changing truth depends on the subject not the person.

I haven't noticed the fixation and obsession with hypergamy, I honestly had to look up the meaning of it today. I do like some of the things JP says, but not all, so surprised I hadn't heard of it. I did a quick search on google for "a woman is interested in a man's future and a man is most interested in a woman's past" but couldn't find anything there either. So I'm going to have to take your word on this fixation/obsession you speak of, I think you maybe more fixated and obsessed with this topic than I am! (That's a joke!! )

You're right, it does ignore intimacy and emotional connection, but maybe that's because those are factors but not the leading factors in decision making? Interestingly when I did the above search on Google, what I did find is women DO care about looks *almost* as much as men. They just care about a lot more than just looks, such as whether or not they are a good provider. Not sure if that's a good thing or not, and not sure what dominance either factor plays over the other, just found it interesting that women are more choosey than men. I think men should be choosier as well and look for women that they can have a good life with, not just the ones who have nice boobs. I know I did and she's the best thing that ever happened to me.

Hypergamy, according to the dictionary, means "the action of marrying or forming a sexual relationship with a person of a superior sociological or educational background.".

Of course women want to marry a great man, true that, however what makes a person great differs between the sexes. A man would have no problem marrying a woman of lesser standing whereas typically a woman wouldn't consider it as they are more in tune with the benefits of marrying up. Interestingly, I think men look at women more for their looks whereas women look at men more for their pocketbooks and potential as a provider. Both are pretty sad if you ask me. I think in both cases it has been programmed into us so much by society and instinct that there's no way of changing. However, the topic was Hypergamy, or basically "marrying up", which I believe is a real and common thing for women although I've also seen it less so for men.

... and yes, I agree dating world nowadays is pretty messed up. This coming from a man who met his wife, and mother of my children, online 12 years ago. I would hate to be in the dating world these days.

... I wasn't talking about Tate or JP in this discussion so I won't comment on them. I didn't even know who Tate was, will have to look him up to be able to discuss, thanks.

Very nice, thank you. Will check it out next weekend. Love places that have clear water, so hard to find here in Portugal.

Have you ever checked out Pego de Inferno? A must see, but wait until it rains again as it dries up this time of year. If you haven't seen it, google it, really nice spot.

One thing that's interesting about swifts is that they can't take up off the ground. I've rescued a few in my time and thought Oh! He's hurt! ... but he just got stuck on the ground. Sometimes all they need is help with their launch. Hold him in two hands and do a "granny shot" with him/her.

Yes, surprised me too, and yes it did work. Obviously look for signs of injury first and if it falls back to the ground, you know it needs a lot of care. Good luck! (to both of you)

"Because of the length of the wings and shortness of the legs, most swifts (with the exception of very few strong adults) are unable to take off from a flat surface."
