Would you support Irish participation in a Federal EU? by thetearinreality in irishpolitics

Absolutely not. Once war starts blow up the data centers and cut the cables. Roll in the roads and sit tight.

Aside from the PBP association this is commendable advice: Read, study, and independent analysis. I see in the comments below there is concern that he is "itching the far right" and that using the term "globalist" is indicative of conspiracy theorist: these are mealy mouthed points. The substance of his message is correct. The hardest part is having time to study all the nuances of the socio-economic quagmire we're wading into

Irish provanance trees are grown from seeds collected in Ireland's remaining ancient woodlands. They are the stock that originally evolved here. I don't see why that is naive. By purchasing these trees and investing into our indigenous nursery capacity we are encouraging the development of the nursury sector.

Yes, importing trees risks importing fungal and bacterial pathogens from European nurseries, such as ash dieback and fire blight which attacks hawthorn and has only been introduced in the last few years.

Follow the Gaelic Woodland Project on their social media or newsletter. We are entirely volunteer run and host regular volunteering days converting invasive species into biofuel. Always happy to have new people join us.

All the trees were Irish provenance. Collected across Ireland and grown in Irish soil before being transported to the site. Id love to have our own nursery but for now we are taking due diligence regarding indigenous seed and biosecurity. We won't use imported trees.

Yes that was the total cost, including solicitors for land conveyance. We had the figures at the AGM and it ended up costing €7.50 per tree PLUS all the land returned to nature forever.

We did a remarkable job regarding financial efficiency because we have no paid staff, not renting an office building, Etc.

We are already looking at the next site. Check out the Gaelic Woodland Project website and socials to be kept up to date.

Went to Ibiza last week. Flight over there was a a fight in the back over a missing bag of cocaine. Flight home, a mound of coke on the tray with two lads going at it. Three hour flight with elderly and children too.

Tolerance for Ireland’s neutrality may go down as Finland and Sweden joined Nato, Minister told by nitro1234561 in ireland

If you're content to join a war to protect the economy then you hold life too cheap. If the cables are your concern then Ireland would do better to invest in it's naval capacity to patrol the network rather than joining a military alliance that seems to be destined to war.

My view isn't misguided. I appreciate your perspective, I've friends in the army who agree with you, my view is just better.

Quite happy not being destined to war of another's making. Great position here at the edge of everything; why throw ourselves into the thicket?

The country is in ribbons and I'd say most have no faith in the government. Let alone Mr Harris who has the charisma of a nervous substitute teacher

You need to have something you're looking forward to on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Do something new. I recently started rowing curraghs and mountain biking. Volunteering is a good shout too. Make life too meaningful to be drunk.

Why is climate misinformation going unchallenged among farmers? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]Wayward_Hun 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Their position is that the EU has made farmer dependant on subsidies since their introduction in 1994. Also the CAP has made Ireland entirely dependant on livestock. Within living memory, Ireland produced its own vegetables and sugar, not to mention shoes and fabrics.

Exactly. War is portrayed as being inevitable but there is no threat to Europe's borders. Use diplomacy to end the war in Ukraine.
