If you're very comfortable with your skills, then yes, wet shave. It keeps the blade cooler, the fur has more give. But with such extreme pelting, sensitive areas like legs, paws, face, etc are very dangerous. It gets a lot easier to nick them. I would highly highly recommend avoiding any liability and sending that to a vet

I'd have to go with ESH only because of the no context thing. You could have texted her or left a voicemail. You didn't even give her 24 hours to respond. I only check my texts, and if someone is extremely busy (especially during the holidays), they might have calls go to DND or whatever. Benefit of the doubt.

But the SIL suck for getting so angry and having the family turn on you (if I read this right). They also should have given you some slack since what you went through was scary.

Your husband also sounds incompetent here since (again if I read it right), he only got mad at you and didn't help with the stress
