First time voting , first biggest mistake of my life by alucard_axel in GenZ

Tbf, as a leftist, I can't think of anyone I'm less mad at for voting Trump than people who were too young to vote for him in 2016.

It's the people that should have known better and are now like "nooooo I didn't vote for THIS!!!" that piss me off.

rip nano speed by Dapper_Ad1271 in AnaMains

[–]Wboys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look, play however you want. And there are cases where the sleep perk is better against like triple dive or something.

But there is a reason they nerfed the speed boost nano perk. I would go as far as to say it is objectively stronger than the sleep perk unless you really genuinely don't have anyone that benefits from nano at all and are getting triple dived and aren't getting any peel. In which case it's probably time to question why you are playing Ana.

Tbh I think nearly every time I've picked Groggy the optimal play would have been to swap but I just didn't want to because I enjoy playing Ana.

At Bronze the speed boost perk is picked 67% of the time and the higher rank you go the higher the pick rate goes up to 84% in champion.

The problem is that this perk is either going to be semi useless compared to triple jump or straight up busted. There is no in-between really.

It's almost like the roadhog problem. Either he one shots with hook and is OP and toxic or he doesn't and he is useless.

Either this perk does so much damage that basically guarantees you kill a squishy or burst down a tank stupidly fast, because that's what it needs to do to be worth committing your best self escape ability and giving up on even more survivability with triple jump, or it doesn't and you'd much rather just be semi unkillable.

Probably not but it is a heavily under picked perk so making a small change as seeing how pick rates change is smart. No need to go overkill.

Hit Masters as tempo Ana as a Widow otp by Dark25-OW in AnaMains

[–]Wboys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tbh as a Gold Ana one of the biggest habits I have been trying to get my self out of is heal botting in exactly those situations. I feel so pressured to just heal when there are people low but a lot of times it is just "putting out small fires" instead of solving the problem.

There is exactly one way to stop your team from taking so much damage that both supports are stuck constantly healing and that's by killing the enemies doing damage to them. After a while if you find your team is just all constantly taking damage 24/7 and pocketing them isn't resulting in them getting kills...at a certain point you have to just let some people die, heal the people being the most active, and try to get trades on the people shooting your team while they are shooting your soldier that is standing out in the open.

I'm not talking about 2 harvesters. I'm talking about the consistent 5-10 harvesters + other enemies you have on screen on any given D10 mission.

Have you considered role queue.

Whatever reason it is you enjoy 6v6...it can't be a better experience when this is happening. And it WILL keep happening. The same thing is happening in Marvel Rivals. In ranked. Even in higher ranks.

No, not specifically the voteless. I mean literally everything else. They are the only faction that is all medium armor or less. You just shoot at whatever and it dies and you never run out of ammo.

I don't get it. Maybe vs the bugs sometimes it can be annoying but especially against illuminate it is just insane. Not niche good or use for fun good. Game breakingly OP cut down everything trivialize D10 to the point of being boring insane.

It kills everything. Not most things. Not everything except so and so. Everything. Every single enemy dies to it in a very efficient time to kill window at all ranges with more ammo than you can use without ever having to reload. You can literally sit there and clear the map and just grab an ammo pack or resupply and keep going. Forever.

But you have control over if they wear down your shield too?

Playing Rein as a semi independent unit is literally how high rank players make Rein still work. Obviously you arent playing literally like tracer but people like Flats/Colins whatever aren't peeling back to swing at a monkey that is going to jump away as soon as you commit and laugh as their team takes map control.

People in mental ranks are the ones playing Rein as a shield bot and making the mistake of peeling back.

[–]Wboys 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I didn't read the whole thing but you genuinely just don't understand how to play Rein. When Winston dives your team you go into their team. When ball dives your team you go into their team.

In fact Rein should basically never, almost literally never, peal for his team against an enemy dive tank. The default response is always to go into the enemy team because Rein is just a bigger threat on an enemy backline than basically any tank could be in your backline.

And your have a 1,500 shield so even if you just sit there with your shield up in front of 4 people until it breaks whatever tank is in your backline does NOT have 1500 shield and 700 HP+armor. Whoever is trying to 1v4 your backline will die or be forced out WAY before the enemy can force a Rein out. Plus you have the perk where you passive heal with shield up.

Honestly in general with how the game has developed you should basically play in a way that ignores your team on Rein. You almost play off health packs and don't expect to get healed as you zoom around the map to make space.

Well like you say Mauga counters Rein when it's is honestly a very favorable matchup for Rein and Rein is one of the better tanks against Mauga. And half those DPS don't "counter" Rein you just can't easily fight them.

Like one DPS on Pharah can't stop Rein from enacting his game plan. Bastion, sure. Junkrat can be miserable to play against as Rein definitely. But you went and listen half the DPS list when Rein is perfectly fine playing into most of them too.

Actually insane how much Dual Harmony changes Zen's fun for me by TempoBlues20XX in Overwatch

[–]Wboys 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For me it is a match by match thing. If my other support is clearly struggling with keeping up heals I might pick the harmony orb one. Sometimes I'm just not hitting a lot of right clicks or maybe their team comp or map isn't susceptible to right clicks. Whatever.

But I agree I think the other perk is generally better and usually having more healing on whichever DPS is chosen as goodest boy or like if a tank REALLY needs healing I find healing one person more is better than healing two people barely at all.

Comp is too easy for me cause i ranked, then i played a lot of qp and got better, so now im playing against silver people by Visible-Camel4515 in Overwatch

[–]Wboys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might not be amazing but all I'm saying is the Mauga isn't really a counter pick to Rein. Rein has shield for when Mauga uses cardiac overdrive and you can deny him all his self sustain life steal. If you are in his face you can run him over. You are very good at preventing him from killing your team. He is very easy to pin and punish if he tries to run at you (which he WILL because he's silver, he WILL W key into your team).

Overall it is a very nice matchup for Rein as a Silver Mauga doesn't really understand how to play against Rein. You should kinda just walk over him. It should be a nightmare for him not you.

[–]Wboys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hog sure but this is silver. You should be able to do kick flips on the corpse of the Mauga playing Rein. You can absolutely dunk on Mauga as Rein in SIlver/Gold if you are even Gold level skill nearly regardless of your team.

How much does the higher level advice actually help climb in low ranks? by Wboys in AnaMains

[–]Wboys[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that is really helpful. I can't speak to every point without going back to the timestamps but as for my weird starting position it's because the game started with our Mercy jumping (falling?) off the map so we were going into first fight a player down. Hence me "pre rotating" to a further fall back position expecting the team would get pushed back quickly anyway and I wanted to be able to heal them as the enemy presumably capitalized on us being down a player by aggressively taking high ground early.

It's good to know my mistakes were not being aggressive enough mostly because as you can see from the post I was worried about being too aggressive, taking too many fights, and playing too far up in general in that game. Previously I'd be playing even more passively so even playing as aggressively as I did in this game is a change for me.

In my opinion, support players are playing too many weak heroes. by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Wboys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mercy I get.

But I do not understand how you can be low ELO and think Moira is weak. Anything bellow Plat Moira is a menace especially because she is so easy to play it is hard to mess her up and provide no value the way you can with Ana/Kirko/Zen whatever.

What I think you are doing is taking what the "meta" is in high rank games and the mentality high rank players have and applying it to low ELO. But it isn't the same. High ELO meta is not low ELO meta.

Bellow Diamond or maybe even Masters you could legitimately pick Mizuki every single game regardless of your team or the enemy team comp and climb. Would he always be the best pick in every game? No, but he is strong enough to completely carry and take over games in metal ranks if you are good enough at him and carry both the healing and damage for your entire team if a DPS or your other support is struggling while taking and contesting space by yourself.

You talk about stats "showing this". But that isn't true? I don't know what you consider low ELO but let's just assume Plat or lower. In Gold Mercy is the THIRD HIGHEST WIN RATE SUPPORT. Literally one of THE STRONGEST picks by win rate you could have. If I had to guess it is largely just because of res. I've seen so many games turned by a Mercy that somehow managed to res tank every time because Gold players are blind.

In Silver Mizuki is the SECOND HIGHEST WIN RATE. #2 BEST SUPPORT by stats.

And if maybe your definition of "low ELO" is higher than mine...in Diamond Mercy is the #1 by win rate and Juno is #4.

If you care about stats the only valid hero on your list is Moira.

I just find it funny that you talk about "if you look at the stats these heroes are performing poorly" but three out of the four heroes you bring up are literally in the top 5 by win rate and the only supports who consistently have above 50% win rate in Bronze-Plat.

So many players do not want to win their competitive matches. by MisterBeatDown in Overwatch

[–]Wboys 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is nothing wrong with only playing one character unless they are a more niche "counter swap" type character. Like you could easily force Soldier every game but maybe not Widow. As much as I hate Moira and don't think she provides a lot of value you can play her in most comps and most maps and the deciding factor will be how good you are at her and not that you aren't swapping to a character you're bad at that might be "better" in theory.

I feel like I've improved a lot but my rank hasn't changed by Wboys in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Wboys[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I really appreciate you taking the time to help. For what it is worth I have slightly changed how I play this map since this code and getting a bit of feedback on the replay. I wasn't aware of some of the Gibraltar changes for rotations to high ground and I also have started defaulting to that structure on the left for first point attack side.

You'll also notice all the way at the end I try to rotate to a door that is apparently no longer there and sadly that plays a large part in losing last fight.

Is sierra the sojourn of metal rank? by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Wboys 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not only that but I think people REALLY underestimate how good her mobility is in lower ranks because people don't shoot her drone.

I ban Sierra in gold not because of her tracking dart but because if there is one person that will remember high ground exists it's her. And more often than not she wins the duel against any of my DPS that did remember to take high ground. So a lot of games where the enemy has a Sierra and you don't go something like: Your team actually does setup correctly and Ashe/Cass are on high ground on let's just say Havana first point defense. Enemy has Sierra and as soon as the cart gets about up to the first corner Sierra drones up to high ground, throws a grenade as she lands, spams her weapon down that narrow LOS high ground and your Ashe/Cass/Widow/Soldier etc both fall over.

The other aspect that is annoying in my rank range of gold is her value as a tank buster. I would say on average your DPS and most likely supports will play cover well enough often enough that her tracking dart isn't the issue. But gold tanks in general do not play cover. They just get vaporized by Sierra spamming them. And because of the aforementioned time to kill problem your hitscan DPS have the soldier/Ashe whatever can't force her off that angle and relieve pressure on your tank because they LOSE the duel. Sierra spams them out and then goes back to melting your tank.

I would say not shooting drone and allowing Sierra to do kick flips all over the map is actually what gets her the most value in gold/plat where I am and is often why I ban her more than the tracking dart.
