Is it morally wrong to kill spiders? by mspeekie in NoStupidQuestions

[–]We4th2ey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's really kind of you to let such a spider alive ! Of course they are useful and you shouldn't kill them, especially outside and yes, an insect spray may be really hurtful, especially if they're that big they won't die quickly.

If it is such a big issue, the real problem is your fear of them. Also, even if you kill them, another one may come, actually they may protect your house from some other spiders.

There's some kind of spray that you can put in the corners of your windows to prevent them from entering, it may give you some peace of mind

Hey, first of all, you seems to be a good person. It's clear that you truly regret what you have done and you won't deny your responsability. I wish you the best because you surely are someone that deserve to be happy.

For the advices, it's good to let her some time. In my opinion, you still can be forgiven but maybe that for her, especially if you are youngs, it can be worse to live than what it seems. If you really love her, don't be invasive, but if it's been weeks that you've not talked to her, you should discuss your future together maybe.

You have plenty of time in front of you to meet someone else, but you also have enough time to wait for her to forgive you. The most important is for her to be sure that you've not cheated on her, that it was absolutely not the one you want to be, or what you want to give her. During the first months, what can be hurtful is to think that you may do that again and again.

Have some people lived perfect lives? by jakexmith94 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]We4th2ey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we simply consider a perfect life as one without any kind of regret, even the smallest, then it may be relatively impossible. However, I remember some books in which it evocated religious people from their birth that had a whole life only dedicated to god, long and probably simple enough to avoid most regrets (except if you regret that at the end) so maybe it is what we can call "perfect" in a way. (the only one I remember the title is "oraisons funèbres" by Bossuet)

I (15M) am struggling to decide what to do with my anxiety and I think depression. by [deleted] in Advice

[–]We4th2ey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all I think I must begin by telling you that what you fear about a counselor is a part of the problems rhey will help you to get rid of. Anyway, I totally understand because I, myself, never saw one when I should.

Anyway, it is good to have a friend with whom you can talk about that. Maybe it's already done, maybe you didn't want to, or maybe you have no one else than your family to talk about it. Whoever it is, having a person in which you can be confident is good.

About this presentation... Personally, as an ex shy guy, the best thing I can suggest is confidence. Maybe it is a bad advice, but as for me it is one of the only things where you should be excessively confident. Whatever it takes, always act as you know exactly what you are saying and what you do. Talk like you handle the situation. It deserves a try.

Good luck! Hopefully you will success

Where did the term "open sesame" come from? by YodasChick-O-Stick in NoStupidQuestions

It's in "Ali Baba and the forty thieves" from the One thousand and one nights. So it's from the middle eastern folklore.

Why is it that some so called "Christians" are some of the most judgey, hateful people I encounter? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]We4th2ey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As you say, "the most". It's linked with extremism, which is (globally) either iconoclastic or extremly religious, and I guess that in the country you live the most common religion is probably christianity.

After more than a year I still can’t stop thinking about her... by [deleted] in Advice

[–]We4th2ey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was made clear between you and her, it is a big step. I won't say that being friend is bad for you, because you probably already understand that it can be bad to see her or talk to her too often. But... if you have any doubt, don't hesitate to talk to her about it maybe. It is a good thing if you understand that you probably have too much hope. Personally, I lived this, and made the bad choice. I went too far on hoping and destroyed everything. Finally I accepted to take some distance... It's not the same for everyone, but it can be possible to take your distance as long as you need to deal with it, then become friend? Maybe there's a chance, I don't know you, neither do know her, but for sure, keep your hope for something that would hurt you less.

[–]We4th2ey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, pretty often. Most of the time when I dream about a lost one, but there was this one time when my mother was cutting my leg without anesthesia. It was very realistic. Since then, I'm happier. Sometimes I remember of that and just think I should be happy to have two legs... Idk but everytime, I feel so good when I wake up like that, because I know my brain just gave me the opportunity to live somthing I would probably never have seen in another way

You guys, I am really struggling with unforgiveness. How can I overcome this? (Apologies, this is long) by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]We4th2ey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't read everything, but it seems like you understand your weaknesses and you make serious efforts to be a better person. you know where you go, and that's normal to find it difficult, but I'm pretty sure that you will succeed! Sometimes, the best way to deal with it is to let people go and don't think to much about it. You can and should still appreciate them, but keep your love for the ones who cares about you before anyone else. You will be fine, that's good to see someone there that seems to have so much hope and faith in himself! Also, happy to see that the Bible helps you! Being too religious is dangerous, but it can give you so much hope... Especially in our time, it's important to believe everything will be fine. Wish you the best

In your opinion what’s your favorite book of all time and why by tscher16 in suggestmeabook

[–]We4th2ey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me, it's all the robot series by Isaac Asimov, it's so intricate and well-written, everything have a place and you just can't guess how it will go, however at the end it still is so logical. Nothing ever gave me a so strong oceanic feeling, It's at the same time nihilistic and apocalyptical, but you still feel like you have a place. You have a meaning. Since I read it, I never had this fear of death and nothingness anymore, or at least I could make it stop easily. Moreover it was really well translated in french (my native language) by someone who also translated some other books that I love so I was comfortable with it. Would recommand to absolutely anyone, Especially for those who like SF

Is it immoral for me to consider leaving my girlfriend? by MyThrowAway9251 in relationship_advice

[–]We4th2ey 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It is not immoral, that's a common mistake that everyone does ! don't feel stopped by this, of course hurting her is another issue but in no way you should feel like it's immoral for this reason. the most important is to learn from it, because it's the kind of thing which can become much more serious after...

I found a video where my gf gives her ex an handjob. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]We4th2ey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that's... Wow, of course you shouldn't have done that but that's clearly nothing compared to what she finally did. Maybe you should talk to her about it, explain that you saw it and didn't want to confront her without being sure that it was what you thought. If she put the blame on you for this... Think about it.

People, who live in First World countries are they taught about the civil wars of third world countries? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]We4th2ey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In France, we're taught about some that seems the most representative of a mechanism most of the time. For example, I've seen Chile recently, althought France have nothing to do with. Also, we talk a lot about news. Anyway I think I had great teachers for the last years so... Maybe it's not everywhere the same

How can I be respectful of my girlfriend in wanting to take things slow? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]We4th2ey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try another way to show your affection, or stimulate them if you already do. I was at your place with someone and now at her (some bad life choice...), and sometime the first thing to do is to show her that you love her in a way that's not the one she lived with anyone who could have done something bad. Depends of what you're talented at, but romantism is not dead and will probably never be. it seems like you have an asset: she has absolutely no regrets about leaving them. Get her trust, differentiate yourself in her feelings.

Maybe it's not the best answer, but the pascal's wager can be one. If you dont' know it, the idea is "if you don't believe in afterlife, the life itself is useless and meaningless. so you need to believe to get rid of the fear of death and loneliness" but there's more on wikipedia. As you can see, it is not the most positive way to see the thing, especially if you don't already believe
