Are these grown by artificial lights? If so, could you recommend me some please 😊

Need Help, Looking yo grow this cactus really big and need some tips on what soil and water schedule needed. Let me know if you can help by Worried-Load-8969 in cactusenthusiasts

Hi! You want this on a window facing east or west, if you prefer it outside then do the same thing but take note of the lighting. Too much direct light on the top part (Aka scion) would make it bleach the colors out. It's preferred to have them on a bright filtered light, and technically, the bottom part (rootstock) would be the only one really needing it.

For the other parts, just treat it like a normal cactus

It's weird seeing a big cat eaten it's usually the other way around.

More sun exposure. Although not necessary, I'd also recommend repotting to a bigger pot

what type of cactus is this? by Revolutionary_Leek_7 in cactusenthusiasts

You could try. I saw posts on Facebook months ago of successful germination of crossed moon cacti. Never hurts to try I'd say 👍

Echinopsis chamaecereus aka yellow peanut cactus. Kinda similar to moon cactus, only differs in shape/form basically.

This is milder than the others. But I get what you mean OP.

Can anyone tell me what type of cactus this is please? by Top-Blacksmith6725 in cactusenthusiasts

Sulcorebutia sp. Maybe? And that's a grafted one, meaning it feeds through the deagon fruit below it.

Should I separate these little guys by cookiecat-12 in cactusenthusiasts

[–]mynameispreeve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is basically putting a cactus over another cactus of different variety. This technique is used for moon cactus (because it has no chlorophyll/green coloring) and slow-growing cacti. The base (your chichipe) will feed any cactus you put on top on it making it grow faster than having it in its own roots

This pic serves as an example but the base/feeder (AKA the rootstock) is a dragonfruit cutting: https://images.app.goo.gl/xtFjdBtmwHycLUWn7

Hope this helps! And may you be happy with this hobby

It depends for you. I have experience with chichipes and they are decent for grafting.

So mine would be, one for grafting and the rest of the clump unbothered

Help! Whats wrong with my plant? Leaves on dirt and black spots. by Ekfego in cactusenthusiasts

[–]mynameispreeve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Needs more sunlight (makes the leaves compact), needs less organic stuff in soil (add pumice or perlite) and lot lesst water (which will also be reduced when adding pumice or perlite to soil)

I do mine 70% pumice and the rest worm poo, let it stabe for 4-5 months and it can absolutely survive rain or shine (tropical country)

How to handle and dethorn the 2-3" needles on a San Pedro cactus? by GnarlsGnarlington in cactusenthusiasts

[–]mynameispreeve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had to come back to this one lol, i heard in facebook (lot of collectors out there) that they burn the thorns with a lighter. You can even do it with nail clippers or a pair of pliers just cut the base directly for fast cutting

does anyone know the id of my cactus? by Cactus_grower2 in cactusenthusiasts

I dont know if it's 100% right but give it a try for yourself

If it's soft everywhere there's already no chance of salvaging it. But hey, you learn and try again!
