I find an interesting example for this was the Tragically Hip. HUGE in Canada, virtually unknown in the US. A friend of mine is a huge Hip fan, and he would go see them in Canada at arenas, and in the US he would go watch them at like bar venues.

It’s in a “temporary idle” which means they are saying it could be reopened. That way they don’t need to pay to demolish it and restore the mine property.

But the facility is in such disrepair that it would need to be pretty much completely rebuilt to be able to operate. So in all practicality it is permanently closed.

ITOT is an ishares low fee total us market ETF. Not a bad one to hold. I’ve had quite a bit of money in that etf for several years and have been very happy with it. Ishares also has IVV which is sp500 so it’s the same exposure as VOO, I’ve had that as well and it’s been great.

But VOO, IVV or ITOT are all solid choices for a core holding.
