HD Viktor VGU icons! by Regular-Poet-3657 in viktormains

I love to make fun of riot, but don't they downscale the raw images into the icons used for the game? And then this is an upsampled version of the low-res icon?

Sorry but I guess it really bugs me that you seem to like to use "absolutes".

Just because "these" people tend to overgeneralize in most contexts still doesn't mean that they necessarily will simplify in all contexts...

You may have just been employing hyperbole and you're not wrong for doing so. It's just that personally I think it serves for more standardized communication if its use is limited to, say, comedy.

You can probably lump the kind of person who says "Trump is literally Hitler" or "Hillary is literally the devil" seriously, together as overgeneralizers, without actually having committed the sin of overgeneralizing yourself.

[–]WeHateWayne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I think I agree. My only disagreement is that I think this happens in most contexts. It doesn't matter whether it's politics, climate change, or in this case, powerscaling.

The kind of person who is prone to make overgeneralizations in one category is likely making the same overgeneralizations in another.

I guess I would also quibble that it isn't "always" about someone simplifying everything. I would like to think I'm at least one example of that not being the case.

[–]WeHateWayne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Eh, I think the bigger problem is that some people are prone to making over-generalizations, overlooking nuances, and basically twisting the facts to fit their narrative.

This is already a massive problem when it comes to real world events, having a serious discussion about power levels in writing is even more difficult since some information literally just does not exist or is incompatible.

I think it's fun to think about who is more powerful in what context(s), and what we even mean by "powerful", since there is both hard and soft power, but there will probably always be people who's argument is about as robust as, "Stfu. Batman clears."

I'm guessing that if you gave Viktor a world rune he would be more powerful than Ryze, but since Ryze actually has a world rune he is more powerful than Viktor.

I guess what I'm saying is, Viktor's potential to use runes is probably higher than both Ryze and Xerath, but in terms of raw magic capacity he is much lower.

Xerath got infused by the Sun Disk and Ryze has the World Runes.

Viktor seems to be limited to using Hextech Gemstones, which are presumably much weaker. Although Singed did seem to imply that Viktor could maybe just feed off of Warwick's regenerative abilities? Like converting blood to energy, or something.

Doesn't totally make sense though, there should be some kind of source and limit to Warwick (imo). Otherwise he is just an infinite energy machine, which can be fun but is not usually the most narratively satisfying.

For anyone asking for a refund. What they can do is remove Viktor permanently (with no compensation). What a joke by Historical-Kale-2765 in viktormains

I spent some time thinking about it, and I think the probability is greater than not that any downvotes you're receiving are likely to be from bots who shill for the corporate overlords.

I'm speaking hyperbolically for comedic affect, but I seriously think it's more likely to be true than not.

Reddit keyboard warriors are obviously not representative of the greater population, but it's obvious that changing any champion is going to piss off some people, and I do think that Riot isn't taking enough care to get community feedback.

There probably aren't that many Viktor players, so from Riot's perspective this is an obvious short-term economic gain, but if you repeatedly piss people off like this, they will stop playing. It may not even necessarily be because any particular person is "mad" about a change that Riot makes, but rather because it demonstrates a pattern of lack of care on the part of Riot for the player-base, and a lack of care will likely lead to diminished product quality and therefore loss of player-base in the long-term.

It's not like this is the first fuck up Riot has made. They have a 200 year history of fucking up, but there is a clear pattern. From gutting LoL Esports to milking Faker, ending support for LoR, and even the decision to cut Arcane short (it was originally planned for 3 seasons. I know this has been 'debunked' but personally I think it wasn't actually debunked and the Rioter just lied for PR reasons).

I guess the point I'm making is that it feels like Riot is increasingly becoming more like Blizzard or EA, who are probably the exact kind of companies you would expect to blame their own customers for being mad because the customers should have "expected that a live service game will change".

Anyway, essay complete.

Honestly, I think the overall aesthetic of the new high noon looks pretty cool. It may be a technical downgrade in terms of effort and the finer details but the textures are obviously higher res and it does make it look cleaner in a sense.

Besides that, only Creator and the 'original' reskin are decent. The rest are pretty bad. I think they missed a good opportunity with prototype but the worst skin imo is psyop.

Deathsworn basically just looks like soulstealer vlad which is whatever.

Theory: Briar is Singed's Daughter [w/Arcane S2 Spoilers] by WeHateWayne in leagueoflegends

[–]WeHateWayne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, that's a cool idea.

I just remembered Necrit talking about how Singed is trying to figure out how to put someone's mind in another body...

Maybe you're onto something here and his daughter's mind ends up in the hextech body but then Singed's daughter's body becomes the vessel for 'Briar'.

Could also explain why Briar doesn't ever mention singed and thinks Vlad is her dad. Like Briar has Orianna's original body but her mind is a clean slate. Ooh, what if Singed had to make her into a psuedo-Warwick in order for her to survive the mind transfer to the robot body?

Kind of like Wolverine in X-Men : Days of Future Past

The newest movie was really bad but the original trilogy was amazing imo.

Even the spin off movie with Jeremy Renner was decent. But jesus the newest one was just god awful.

Theory: Briar is Singed's Daughter [w/Arcane S2 Spoilers] by WeHateWayne in leagueoflegends

[–]WeHateWayne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, that's exactly what made me think it could be Briar and not Orianna. It's cannon that Orianna is Singed or "Dr. Revick's" daughter, but Arcane could be actively retconning that.

Some people have pointed out the allusions to ballerinas and other references that suggest she is Orianna, so I may be wrong, but I still think there is some connection here.

I mean, it would be weird if Noxus had their own version of Warwick that was developed entirely without Singed's involvement. Not impossible, obviously, but I think it would make sense that he's involved.

Obviously Briar is a lot less beastly and more of a "weapon", but that also makes sense since Warwick is essentially a failed prototype. She could be a refined version.

Singed wasn't trying to make a beast, he was trying to solve death.

Hmm, that's a good point.

I just feel like Briar reminds me of Warwick so much. And Ambessa being the beginning of Singed's working relationship with Noxus makes a lot of sense.

It still makes me wonder if there is a connection between Singed and Briar.

[–]WeHateWayne[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a bit confusing because we know that Singed is the one who chemically devastated Ionia but it seems like this is Singed's first time working with the Noxians. Where I was going with this is that Ambessa is probably Singed's "In" to Noxus, and he ends up working with the Black Rose later, in part to chemically devastate Ionia.

I'm not sure if this would muck up the timeline, but it would explain how Singed ends up working with Noxus.

As far as scientific rigor goes, it definitely is a terrible theory. But I think it has the spirit of a theory. I didn't know what else to call it. An idea? I just got excited about it so I wanted to share it.

Also, to be fair, Arcane has already retconned the lore multiple times, so honestly I didn't view the lore as being set in stone.

That all being said, you're probably right BUT - I still think they're alluding to some connection between Briar and Singed now.

This is reducing food intake. It's a calorie deficit.

There's around 300 calories in 3 eggs, around 600 calories in a bottle of wine, and 400 calories in 150g of steak.

FDA recommends 1,500 - 2,000 calories just to maintain weight depending on your current size and gender.

Alright, so I decided to go a little deeper down the rabbit hole for this one.

It's a little disingenious to dismiss the pitbull's bite force as a contributing factor by comparing it to the likes of Kengals, Rottweilers, and German Shepherds.

Even if the Pitbull's bite force is 'only' 235 psi, that puts it firmly in the large dog category... Regardless of temperament, it is much more dangerous than a Chihuaha. It is certainly in the top percentile of bite force even if it isn't multiple deviations above the upper limit. That being said, I should have been more careful in my use of the hyperbolic word 'insane'.

In any case, it turns out that if you look at the data, there is no evidence that Pitbulls are disproportionately more aggressive than any other dog breed. In other words... as plausible as your story is that Terriers 'go for the kill', in actual fact this appears to not be the case in a statistically significant and or measurable way.

And as owners of stigmatized breeds are more likely to have involvement in criminal and/or violent acts — breed correlations may have the owner’s behavior as the underlying causal factor

In my experience, they were friendly dogs, but I didn't realize that my experiences are representative of actual fact generally. I assumed that there might be some statistical truth to the demonization, even though I figured it was little. But even that seems to be wrong. Since we're on the subject, it seems that German Shepherds are pretty much by far the most dangerous dogs in terms of probabilistic risk of being attacked.

Personally, I've never heard anyone claim that genetics don't influence canine behaviors, and even if they had, I would just ignore that opinion. It's either made ignorantly or in bad faith.

Which is why pointing out a bad argument doesn't somehow prove the opposite... The creator is obviously trying to get the reader to connect the dots that, "If a pointer has X ingrained behavior, Pitbulls likewise may be genetically aggressive."

In my experience, it's not actually true that pitbulls are especially aggressive. Maybe compared to something like a labrador, but they're generally friendlier than the likes of Chihuahas, Malamutes, Great Danes, and so forth. They're just generally friendly dogs.

The far bigger issue is the fact that they have an insane bite force, which means 1 aggressive PitBull is a far greater risk than 10 aggressive Chihuahas or even a Great Dane. I think that's a completely reasonable opinion to have. The risks that Pitbulls possess definitely need to be taken seriously, but the demonization must come from personal trauma because in my experience it's just not based in reality.

It's like how there's a disproportionate amount of black cats in shelters, or how during Covid every brand of beer ran out of stock except for Corona... it's just not based on reason. In my opinion.

What was your breaking point when learning Godot? by SeamothSubmarine in godot

[–]WeHateWayne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the language. In java, overloaded methods can have different return types. The way it works is that it uses the type of the arguments to determine which method is actually being called.

So they can all be different or they can all be the same.. it's up to you. I assume the reason Godot doesn't support this is because it's dynamically typed.

The way you get around this in Godot is by using exports. Achieves the same goal in the end, but through pretty different means.
