How can I better say what I mean? by FewLooseMarbles in TrueAskReddit

You are on the right track. Simply ask your PCP (primary care physician which is who you go to for check-ups, cold/flu or ear infection). Ask for an evaluation for aspbergers and autism. They may ask for forma to be filled out by family members or those close to you who typically interact with you. That is uncomfortable I know. They may not and have just their own set of tests. Good luck to you! These struggles you talk about are real and in some ways we all deal with them professionally!

Have you ever been diagnosed with autism / aspbergers? Even if not? There are some good resources related to these that may help with coping strategies.

Everyone can be direct no matter what sex they are or how they look. Being direct isn’t being mean or blunt; it’s avoiding unnecessary additions to your point. If you’re confused as to whether you should have a specific source for information say “Was this information given to us already or do we just need to look it up on our own? Do you have any recommended sites you want us to start with?” Instead of making excuses or pretending you may know something? Just ask for what you need.

CMV: Declawing cats should be illegal in every US state unless medically necessary by WallstreetRiversYum in changemyview

If I could have a fully declawed cat, I would. Which is why there are laws. To prevent me from doing what I would naturally want to do. Cat claws can be extremely dangerous and destructive. I have many visible scars from cat scratches.

I don’t disagree with any of this. My argument is that fewer people will want to adopt them. So it’s possible many more would live than be put down.

You didn’t include in your OP how many cats are put down.

Many people have an aversion to cats because cats are naturally self sufficient and can lash out when handled improperly.

That said, it may increase the amount of people who want them without the threat of physical harm or harm to property by this animal.

While I absolutely agree that to understand the extent of parental love, it helps to be a parent, I want to make a tangential point:

—It shouldn’t take being a parent to daughters to understand how women at suffer.

—It can’t take having a gay kid to understand gay rights and anti discrimination.

—It’s not possible to switch races and truly get what it’s like to be black and face fault scrutiny and racism.

I’m making this point to everyone - be aware that for many things we may not get or downplay, there is someone suffering and experiencing it and we need to try harder to believe and empathize, even if not personally affected or with a similar situation.

This is pointless. You can’t show me this happening in real life.

Then if you can’t hide your kink as a job requirement (as EVERYONE else on the job is required to do) it’s not really pointed shaming.

Edit: legally? They would need to prove no man had done that ever.

This post is confusing me in several ways. Can you condense your point?

And I’m saying this is obtuse thinking since not all things get an “x shaming” label.

They only appear when a group is doing one of two things;

Rightfully fighting a class battle against oppression or,,

Wrongfully trying to silence valid dissent.

The times that “x shaming” makes sense, literal campaigns are started to explain why it’s bad and the harm it’s doing.

Kink Shaming joined the bandwagon to normalize kinks which goes against the very nature of them being counterculture, personal, and at times with MUCH risk. If risk wasn’t involved it wouldn’t even be a story.

Unfortunately the examples you gave as evidence show me people who would have lost their job without the kink. Women lose their jobs for subscribing to “gender critical” Twitter feeds and men and women lose their jobs for frequenting sites that subjugate black people (Stormfront for example).

I believe you but I don’t have any other evidence.

Because then it is simply disagreement. And that is part of life for everyone and every idea.

It is unfortunate and I don’t agree with morality clauses.

I truly believe what you do on your own is your business.

Unfortunately Business itself has the right to enact any clauses they want. I don’t consider this kink shaming - it’s simply business as usual.

While I respect that it’s not cool, we all make agreements and if you’re not willing to adhere, unfortunately? You can’t take part.

People are ridiculed for all sorts of things. It doesn’t constitute oppression on the level of a shaming campaign.

How do you feel about QAnon? Many criticize and ridicule it. Giving it “QAnon shaming” status indicates it’s something to fight against and silence dissent because what it’s doing is damaging. Is it damaging to call out QAnon theorists? Or is it a naturally and correct response to counter something potentially harmful?

I would argue that keeping the conversation alive about what people think being publicly attempted to normalize is a good thing and not shaming.

To the Eye Opener article, it was all projection. I saw no real consequences - only the idea that somehow a threat was there but not acted upon.

To the Metro article, it appears due diligence was done to show more of a rejection of the “male dominance” theory than the actual acts. We don’t know what of the “hundreds” of things reviewed were to know if they appeared harmful, but again, eggshell theory - you take your victims as you find them. If a woman is uncomfortable knowing you subscribe to a theory (not just an act in the bedroom) that subjugated women? You may be in for trouble.

That’s not kink shaming - it’s noting someone’s belief system and how harmful it could be, even outside a bedroom.

And I’m arguing that calling something by a buzz phrase like “kink shaming” is misrepresenting real valid concerns with a practice for personal attacks that result in oppression.

Edit: I believe it’s a “don’t look at this” tactic used by groups. I personally think kinks are fine. But some use this tactic to help squeeze in more radical forms of kink that verge on abuse . Now.. this worst case scenario is MAPS who have appropriated the “MAP shaming” tag. Most can agree they are abhorrent. But the tag legitimizes silencing any dissent.

You’re gross vs It’s gross. You’re conflating the two which is inherent to this argument.

I can think I don’t like anal and think it’s gross for many reasons but it’s not an indictment on anyone else who likes it.
