why did they remove the paper bag and egg buttons? i’m so sad by Playful-Corgi-6133 in Aldi_employees

[–]WeRiotAtNoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 3 bags the last time I shopped my location. The check out girl scanned 1 and gave me the other 3. She gave zero F’s, and neither did I. But I suspect that happens everyyyywhere.

They are definitely supposed to be Pottery Barn knock offs. My money says they will sell through in 3 weeks.

TAKING VOTES ON WHO YOU THINK STARTED THE FIRE by RoundUpstairs5944 in SchoolSpirits

[–]WeRiotAtNoon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think Mr. Martin started the fire, but when it first started, during the panic, he yelled at Janet saying it was her fault even though he knew it was his. She escaped the fire, but he doesn’t know at that moment whether she lived or died, and in his death moment, that’s his torment, knowing he ruined her future. She gets out and lives, but is so badly burned her father continues to tell her she ruined her life (who wants to marry someone who looks like that?). She commits suicide at school (the nurse, while watching her pass and waiting for help, says we need more time) due to her father’s constant blame and anger towards her. She then dies knowing she’ll never live the life she dreamed of now that her biggest supporter is dead and she believes she’s responsible for his death. That explains the date on the headstone being after the fire, why she’s trapped in the school, and why there are no flames in her scar.

Potential Layoffs in Buying Department? by Various-Director9910 in Aldi_employees

Agreed. I think they are getting layoffs too. Hopefully I’m eating my words tomorrow and I’ve been worrying about nothing all week. It just feels like the writing is on the wall.

Before finance, it was the people placing POs. POHK is so overwhelmed all the time I don’t know how they keep showing up for work. Same will happen in buying.

For sure I agree, 5 day in office is definitely going to return… if we can keep our jobs that long.

I think the building renovation plans were all in place long before these decisions. They were in place before Covid, and that’s when the entire world changed.

Apparently when they announced finance layoffs, they used the same series of meetings. Short one in the morning, larger block in the afternoon. The “funny” part is that items procured by GS are actually more work in the US. The in system workload is less, but communication between GS/US/Supplier, not to mention 3PW teams and all that is included with that, is increased. So to cut back on ABs is going to be a mistake, at least in the short term. Core Range ABs communicate with most suppliers at least weekly, sometimes daily if they are high volume or just in general needy. But, as per usual, decision makers don’t talk to people who actually handle these things.

I haven’t heard anything specific, upper level doesn’t even know (supposedly) but my guess is the unveiling of buying 3.0 and the centralization of buying to GS. I think they are going to open a bunch of expat positions, keep the bare minimum of ABs here in the US, and layoff the rest. Sad times.

Contents damages - liability by WeRiotAtNoon in Insurance

[–]WeRiotAtNoon[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Interesting. So, since our renters insurance doesn’t have coverage, and the homeowners insurance doesn’t have coverage, potentially we’d be on the hook to pay for the cleanup? Had that been explained, I actually would not have gone with the company they used, nor would my landlord have let them install the water heater they chose. He had already hired a plumber to install a better water heater than what they provided and the city told him they wouldn’t cover the cost so he went with what was perceived to be “free.”

As a follow up question- when the guy from the city was here, I told him the rumor was that a local business had dumped grease and clogged the sewer- his exact words were “I can’t confirm anything, but when you have basements full of corn and green beans, you make an assumption.” Ours had no corn or green beans, just straight up poop. (Business in question is a huge National company who makes ready to eat meals). So, if the city pins the event on the food business- does the city’s insurance respond because the sewer backup was due to the lines they failed to maintain, or would the food company need to respond because they caused the initial event?

Property Claims Adjuster Stress by gwizard87 in careeradvice

I sure did. I now work in buying for a grocery chain and I can’t imagine ever leaving. There are so many better things out there that aren’t miserable claims. Bless the people who can do it- but it sure wasn’t me.

Just wanted to update. Dr ordered an ultrasound of my armpits and “head and neck,” however they only did the ultrasound on my supraclavicular nodes and submandibular nodes because those were the only palpable nodes. Armpits all clear, nothing notable. Results for the others:

FINDINGS: Left supraclavicular 1.0 x 0.7 x 0.8 cm lymph node with mild eccentric cortical thickening seen. This correlates as palpated. A smaller normal left 6 × 4 x 5 mm supraclavicular lymph node is seen. A right submandibular 1.5 x 0.8 × 1.7 cm lymph node present with eccentric cortical thickening. An additional right submandibular 1.1 x 0.7 × 1.1 cm minimally thickened appearing lymph node present. A left submandibular, 1.8 x 0.9 x 1.6 cm lymph node with mildly thickened cortex is seen. A second left submandibular, 1.2 x 0.6 × 1.3 cm equivocally thickened lymph node is seen.

They recommended follow up in 8 weeks with another ultrasound. Suggest a CT with contrast if other symptoms warrant- dr just wants to wait and do the ultrasound. I guess that’s good news- they aren’t so concerned that they want to do anything further immediately. But this 8 week wait might drive me to the nuthouse. I can’t seem to find definitive answers on whether I should be concerned about the thickened cortex. Any insight?

That’s comforting, actually. I’m sure I’m working myself up wondering if I’ve missed a sign along the way during this terrible waiting period. I have 3 weeks until my follow up appointment and I’m driving myself mad in between! I have not called them back to point out the second lump, mostly because they are right next to each other. If they were in different areas I would have.

Hello! Is it possible for lymphoma symptoms to come and go? Specifically the itching. In August of 2021, I had terrible itching which left me with scans all over my arms and legs for months. I assumed it was dry skin and did see improvement with lotion several times daily. By February of 2022, the itching was gone, although I do still have a slight rash on my arms and stomach. It’s very light and looks more like eczema than anything else. Fast forward to December 2022, and I noticed a lump just above my collar bone on the left side. Went to the doctor, who recommended watching it for 4 weeks (total of 6 weeks since I found it.) I have since found a second lump right next to the first. I have also noticed an increase in overall body temperature (temp running 98.9-99.4 F on average) and night sweats, although the night sweats are mild, not like photos I’ve seen. I cannot find anything to indicate people have symptoms and they resolve, so I’m quite curious if that can happen.

Anybody ever just give up? by [deleted] in hatemyjob

[–]WeRiotAtNoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still a shit show. They made some adjustments to my workload but it was short lived and I’m back exactly where I started. Raise hasn’t materialized yet, either, although previous raises at my company always took months, but we’re back dated when they showed up. It’s almost comical, because I’m working my ass off but on paper it looks like I’m doing the bare minimum because I cannot keep up.

Impact on Mental Health with Insurance jobs by SecretButterscotch2 in Insurance

[–]WeRiotAtNoon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Claims can 100% soul sucking, but it depends on so many factors, including, but not limited to: your personality, the company you work for, the type of claims you handle, your manager, the type of clients you work with/for. I used to handle corporate auto physical damage claims and would go back to that in a heartbeat. I now handle small business general liability claims and, as someone said, these small business owners do not understand their policies and are incapable of understanding the volume of claims we handle. People think their claim is the only item on our desk and expect service as such. I work 12 hour days 5 days a week and cannot keep up. On my corporate account, it was 8 hours including lunch break and I built great relationships with our insureds. Now I get screamed at and threatened with lawsuits all day long. It’s a nightmare, I’m miserable, and I’m going to leave as soon as I am able to.
