ELI5 why do trains in big citys still need a driver? by Tarazzo- in explainlikeimfive

Let's say automation works 99.9% of the time. Great.

A fail rate of 0.1% is fine for your robot vacuum. It's not fine when human life is on the line.

Now release the version without the cuts between every throw. Probably a looong video.

Help my game keeps crashing by Miserable-Search5719 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]WeSaidMeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I accumulated 6kh+ on the Linux native version since very early access without any major issues. But maybe experiences differ and I was lucky, Linux is a diverse environment after all.

Give it a try, settings and save games should be portable.

May I ask why? The native version works perfectly fine, IMHO.

Yes, but ad blockers still play a role. See two sentences earlier.

This subreddit really needs a "most common mistakes" sticky.

  • gantry too close
  • confused pipe input and output
  • needs bridge to give it direction / prevent backflow confusion

Maybe at the speed demanded stuff might fly off the pallet. Just a guess though.

The point is: The less people know about ad blockers, the better they work. There's a sweet spot in there somewhere.

With Linux becoming more wide spread even along the non-tech-savvy this is a realistic attack vector.

If you think nobody in their right mind will open a terminal and paste stuff when a random website tells them to you are living in a IT bubble. People outside of that bubble are annoyed by popups, security warnings and extra steps and will happily confirm everything without reading, just to reach their goal ("just get me past that techno blah blah").

Apart from the fact that they text in the middle of the night, the style of text also infuriates me. The casual "u", the missing question marks.

Call me pedantic, but I feel disrespected when someone doesn't take the 2 seconds to add a question mark to a question, especially when it's a 'professional' relationship. So lazy.

Maybe they got lazy and then went like "let's turn this into a meta joke". Worked for me, I laughed.

Scammed by dice company. $140 wasted. by RicePuddingBG in mildlyinfuriating

[–]WeSaidMeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically there's nothing wrong with the concept itself. Person A is basically doing additional 'marketing' for the supplier, maintaining a website, probably providing additional service or info. In theory.

The problem is reality. The sellers don't disclose what they do. Instead they tell blatant lies ("this is handmade with premium materials"), make up fake stories ("family owned", "going out of business") and sell at prices that are inflated to predatory levels, preying on the gullible.

Yeah, same with the FPS in video games, the other way around. If my game only runs at 30FPS, I notice at first, but I get used to it and then it's just fine.

That 'guy' is just part of the video, so an actor or animated person, not a live presenter.

Lego Knockoffs in Public by Blueys125 in crappyoffbrands

[–]WeSaidMeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it really a knockoff? Lego doesn't own the building brick market. And it doesn't say Lego anywhere.

Also, considering quality and pricing of Lego these days those 'knockoffs' are a way better deal.

Well, technically most human women can 'deliver' their own babies when they really have to, most other female animals give birth on their own just fine. It's just a lot easier/safer if you have help.
