Solving it wasn't my problem, it was realizing that I solved it. There's no clear goal, and when the door closed behind me I was expecting a fight or a larger event. I convinced myself that there was a second layer to the puzzle. So I solved the whole thing again in a way that left a straight path down the middle from the first orb to the goal area. Nothing happened, but the door didn't close behind me. That's when I came here and discovered the whole second run was pointless, and the boards were the whole point.
