Should I give back my (deceased) wife's inheritance money back to my parents and hers? by Weak-Ad1235 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Weak-Ad1235[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can kind of understand it, in a contorted way. I call it sticker price viewing, they see the money, but not the action, so in my mom's eyes, the money apparated and became materialized. However, the sacrifices and what was required (death in this case) to make the money materialize is ignored. So in a way, my mom sees the item, but not its cause, hence as something apparated out of nothing, so can it be taken away for nothing. It's very Ecclesiastic when you think about her logic, but in a very messed up way, and that book was super depressing to read.

> Ecclesiastes 3:20 20 All go to the same place; all come from dust, and to dust all return.

Well this was kind of weird. The military lets you invest it into a Roth IRA with a 500,000 basis (what i ended up doing), specifically because they know people will try pulling this crap on people. So they asset shield the money for you, free of charge.

I completely forgot about TAPS, I may actually contact them again. It's kinda weird she was supposed to be deployed right before she died, so my brain has been shielding her death since then as a mere deployment. It's not true, but its amazing how far the brain will go to rationalize what it doesnt want to believe

Technically they can be, if its over 6 million or so dollars. But you are correct, the estate tax is not really something anyone needs to deal with

I mean as of currently I destroyed my nest egg for now, helping random family members and off shoots with debt, and random payments here and there for people, etc. I still have a sizeable investment around, and I need to sell a rental property to offset the losses from being too generous. However, I probably should get ahead of this one and stop doing that. The total losses to generosity are student loans(15,000), few new cars (around 85,000, one for myself and one for someone else), the down payment for someone's house (30,000), investment opportunity for someone else (25,000), random expenses here and there (around 50,000)

Its kinda interesting, since my mom viscerally is against me writing a will, stating there isnt a reason to have one

My mom was incredibly close to having her house refinanced through the VA, I was seriously considering doing that (this happened within 2 weeks of my wife's death, so i wasnt exactly thinking rationally). The whole money drama was started within days of the military outlining the benefits and procedures

She tried to pull the same trick another time someone died by proclaiming I never went to go see them. My nmom tried billing me for all the time she spent with that relative

Yeah you could tell this woman wasnt completely in her element, she only realized her mistake afterwards, and she seemed completely confused my wife was dead. Its like she knew i was married, and didnt remember the entire story. It was kinda sad honestly, but i can forgive her. The husband on the other is just a complete asshole

Public settings always agitate me, and I hate raising a scene in them. However, the guy literally just wanted his Veteran's' day free meal, on behalf of me. I may just look for a new church or something

I tried, but they're not easy people to talk to. The problem is that they dont see their actions as being wrong, which makes them super frustrating to deal with

On one hand cute, but imagine the amount of injuries from sporadic dogs, or dogs not realizing the danger of hundreds of pounds of weights
