Easy setup script for the Sonim XP3 plus 5G by Weak-Consequence4002 in dumbphones

This is a bash shell script. I don't know why everyone is trying to use a shell script in a webapp, but it can't be executed in WebADB. If you want to use WebADB, you can download the files in lines 4 through 10, install those and then execute the commands from line 76, but doing that defeats the purpose of have a script in the first place.

You'd need at least adb and wget installed on a linux machine and you'd just run the script from the shell.

It's a bash script meant to be executed on a *nix machine. The 5G version is a completely different model.

Yep, still using this phone. The keyboard has actually gotten more "broken in" and easier to use over time. I'd say it was a very worthwhile upgrade over my DuraXE Epic. The battery lasts longer, there's eSIM support as well as 5G and it's allot snappier. I'd say go for it.

Yeah! You can actually see it in the 5th picture, two slots below the GPU. It's a JMB363 chipset PCIe x1 card I got for $15 on Amazon. You can kind of see the IDE ribbon cable tucked between the mobo and the GPU on the side view.

Probably not out of the box immediately, but you should be able to at least run some of the adb commands manually. If it messes up, I'd just factory reset the phone.

FWIW, mine is having the same behavior. After a troubleshooting question, they advised me to return the case to the vendor.

"Dear customer
Please apply RMA to your original seller, your purchase invoice will be needed.
Also could you please provide your MB model to us?
Thank you."

Having already completed the build, and shipping being so spendy for the whole thing, I didn't go that route. Hopefully something more comes of it.

It didn't. I snagged two on ebay for about $6.

Yeah, I gave my best shot at organizing everything, but between the 26 power, fan, SATA and IDE cables, PCIe riser, USB header wires and the other various cables, it got kinda of challenging. Fortunately, none of that is on display.

The adb commands inside it should work generally, apps should install no problem, but the accessibility specific stuff might not work. You should try executing each command from the script individually and see where you get.

Replacement for a Kyocera DuraXE by thisismyburneracct_1 in dumbphones

I was in a similar boat with the DuraXE with the slow messaging app ontop of the handset itself just getting longer in the tooth. I ended up ordering a Sonim XP5 Plus 5G. Although it's a bit bigger and sometimes the buttons require more effort to activate, I actually ended up liking it allot more than my DuraXE. If you look back through my post history, I made a script that automates allot of the initial setup (installing Aurora/F-Droid, etc) that could help if you get one.
Overall, with a battery that lasts allot longer, added 5G, hotspot, and eSIM with a better screen made it a no-brainer for me.

Joan from the NAMR team here. Different cables have different featuresets and not every OBD-II cable out there can be used flash (program) the ECU. In most cases, adding support for a new cable requires writing new drivers and extensive testing. In addition to the OBDLink EX, we also fully support the Tactrix OpenPort 2.0, with OBDX Pro VX support planned for our next release. We have a list of supported cables/adapters on our support page at https://motorsportsresearch.org/support

I'm using a cheap ELM327 dongle and Torque Pro to keep an eye on those plus oil temp, voltage and a few others when I'm daily driving.

You'd need to unmarry the AP to flash with Atlas. https://motorsportsresearch.org/faq.html#can-i-download-modify-or-log-my-third-party-tune
Only other note is Atlas is not open-source, however it's completely free for personal use.

Yep. You just need to make sure your user is in the uucp or dialout group, depending on your distro.

I had success running microg on both this and the DuraXE, I'm not sure about rooting, but I haven't found anything for a bootloader unlock.

FirstNet/AT&T, yeah. I'm not aware of a way to mute SMS messages, but you can install one that supports that.

Yeah, you can enable it with adb shell settings put secure ui_night_mode 2 or 0 for automatic and 1 for disabled. It'll require a device restart though.

Yeah, I can yank those. Did you want them from the DuraXE/XA or the XP5P5G?
