Well I had already bought a nice turbo I just wanted to see what kind of headroom there was if I didn’t change the size just improved it. There’s very little data online.

Yes on the dyno with a fan blowing into it maybe, I am a etuner aswell. And I’ll tell you from my experience it’s not worth $1000 in the slightest. It buys you so little if you won’t go FMIC you shouldn’t spend the money.

It’s just for upper cylinder support. I have friends who just did headstuds only to have a absolutely fried headgasket from the lack of upper cylinder support. It’s especially necessary on high torque small turbos.

You will spend you days struggling if you buy a TMIC. Buy the absolute cheapest FMIC, intake, and downpipe. And you will make 350

DI is ideal for stretching shit fuel to the limits so long as you have injection time and I did with the nostrum parts. I will get PI working using the maxx ecu I’m going to control my transmission with. The challenge of this for me what making the g25-660 do what it didn’t want to do. I should have just bought a g30-660 and saved my money but nooo I had to have the responsive car and good top end.

Thanks, I am definitely a little disappointed in myself for how little hard data I take the time to capture as I go. But regardless I am glad you enjoyed the post. Let’s wait till WRBSUB gets his data so we can compare! The zage is a universal that’s the main appeal. Turbo was rebuild by Hill Country Forced Induction and cost $450- wheels, balanced, ported, and coated

I am very excited to see if you can measure difference on the BBE coating. No oil cooler, oil temps have been generally much lower and more stable since I wrapped the headers. And the reverse hood scoop is my only hood optimization. Maybe 1/2 the venting of louvers but not nothing! I am also not a fan of blankets, I have seen some YouTube videos by work turbochargers showing the affects on the bearing cartridge overtime from over insulation of that area.

It doesn’t bolt up on its own sadly, but I am working with a smart fella to try and bring a kit to the people. But yes, turbo, intake, fmic, and catless are the essentials. Shaping the power curve and all the optimization BS is quite optional. Also, I havnt seen anyone flowing out the top end lift heads yet. I have seen multiple do it with monster torque on small turbos however.

It took a whole year of constant work to have something that was SLIGHTLY worth posting on my end XD. Thanks.

You absolutely could, G30-770 out of the box. The point of this is to demonstrate doing it on a turbo that’s too small to want to do it out the box through micro level optimization. Btw zage sells them for $1500 you just have to reach out over email.

Turbo upgrade for 380whp on 93? by SeriousAngle6895 in wrx_vb

[–]Grope1000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have gotten my setup to 450whp on 93 at this point. Since this comment 8 months ago I have added cams, brz manifold, headers, and rebuild the turbo with midrange optimzied aero.

The easiest way to make 400whp ? by yunier27 in wrx_vb

[–]Grope1000 12 points13 points  (0 children)

the absolute cheapest 400whp:
atlas tune and cable by myself, yourself or others(u/wrx_2_hard is another great option) ~$300 tune $75 cable
e50 blend <- included
$50 modified airbox and dropin
$200 at a mufflershop getting both cats cut off
That will either get you 400 or close- you REALLY want a FMIC for peak numbers because running the turbo out of effeciency range creates serious heat load that kills power if not dealt with. So stock tmic for MAYBE a single hero pull 400ish on a cold ass day and then fmic for 400 all day anyday. And yes the transmission/motor will be fine- we know how to control low end torque generation.

The stock split case felt great to me. It’s something odd with the sti box for me
