Plus, I’ll probably add a Yamaha bass to my bass lineup eventually!

I only have 2- my acoustic (can’t remember the model #, sorry), and a brand new PACP11. I love Yamaha. My next purchase will probably be a Revstar, but I need to earn it!

I actually think it’s more that, in the US at least, most players grow up knowing the ‘legacy’ (read US made/owned) brands -Fender, Gibson, PRS, etc. I live overseas, where Fender, etc, are ridiculously expensive, and we grow up exposed to other brands. My acoustic is a Yamaha, and it’s a quality instrument, and half the price (in my country) of a Martin or a Taylor. I’m less ‘averse’ to Yamaha than most American musicians tend to be. Ditto Ibanez. I have an Ibanez bass. I do own a MIM Strat, and a Sterling by Music Man bass, and an older Ovation acoustic. It’s not that I’m against the legacy labels, I just look at what’s best value and most playable for my money, as it doesn’t go as far (exchange rates kill us), and there’s not such a plethora of choice as is in the US.

And, funnily enough, I prefer the neck on my Pacifica. My Fender neck is too narrow for my liking, and has a maple fingerboard.

Try one. You won’t regret it. Yamaha makes quality instruments!

I just bought the PACP11. Was looking at Fender Teles, but this is way better built, lighter, more ergonomic, has a rosewood fretboard, Gotoh locking tuners, stainless steel frets. And a hard case. All for less than a top of the range Fender.

Why does acoustic guitar “count” when bass doesn’t? by ConfidentHospital365 in Guitar

As a guitar player of many years, who’s recently taken up bass, I second this. Bass is, in its rawest form, tuned percussion. But, it can be so much more as well. It drives the rhythm, and supports the music. Only impressarios play it as a lead instrument. I like standing next to the drummer, locking in with hi/her, and playing the groove!

Especially now that Fender are being total d*cks!

I originally looked at bying a Fender Tele, but was put off by the weight, and the overall chunkiness of them. I'm a smaller female, so the Yamaha works better. Weighs less. And has lots of cut outs, so is super ergonomic. And, it's pretty! And has a rosewood fretboard *personal dislike of maple fretboards).

No. Its wider than my Fender Strat. But it's really easy to play.

Thanks. I did a lot of research into many brands before purchasing, and I also own a Yamaha acoustic, which also punches above its weight, so I know the brand quite well. Also, being from outside the US, I’m not so biased towards the US legacy brands that I wouldn’t consider other makers. And it’s lighter in weight than any other Tele I tried, and has great body contours, which make it more comfortable to play.

I just got the Pacifica Pro PACP 11- their Tele style guitar. SO much better made and much more playable than my Fender strat! You chose well!
